Texas-based five-piece The Unlikely Candidates have just released their brand new music video for their single “Oh My Dear Lord”. The Unlikely Candidates – comprised of Kyle Morris’ vocals, Brent Carney on lead guitar with fellow guitarist Cole Male, Jared Hornbeek’s bass and Kevin Goddard on drums – are making waves as rockstars.The group says of the track: “Oh My Dear Lord thematically and sonically goes from sweeping wistful verses to explosive redemptive choruses. We wanted something that reflected that dramatically in a video. Water has that dynamic tension. It can be soft and ethereal or crushing and chaotic. This video capitalized off that contrast and made for a perfect pairing visually for ‘Oh My Dear Lord.”
Fans of Night Riots, Fall Out Boy, or Panic! At The Disco will likely enjoy this quintet’s work. The partially abstract video combines the classic performative cuts of a rock band with an indie edge and carefully crafted angles. The track, like all good rock songs, is one that gets you pumped and full of emotion. You’re going to want to watch the video for “Oh My Dear Lord” right away.
Stealing the stage with their newest self-titled album, Swoll is enticing the masses with their latest single “Shake”. The single is riddled with killer synth loops and hypnotizing harmonies that are sure to be featured in other tracks on this album as well. Not only will the full album have a universal message, but project star Matt Dowling also hopes that his music will be introspective and personal for all of his listeners.
This album was deeply rooted in Dowling’s need to express let go of what he called, “trauma.” In his own words, “That’s the beautiful thing about music and art: they provide a mechanism to release in a healthy and meaningful way, whether you’re the maker or the viewer/listener.” Stylistically, Dowling has been able to mesh together elements of several different genres in a new and memorable way unlike what we’ve seen from his other projects. Thorough careful songwriting, her is able to unite pop, electro, rock and other major genres with seamless effort.
Although Dowling has been on a roller coaster that has brought him success and hardship, Swoll is set up to succeed in a new and exciting way.
Hailing from Trinidad and of South Asian descent, Ms. Mohammed is out to confront xenophobia and islamophobia head-on with spectacular songwriting and seamless vocals. Not only does her music have powerful beats, but they are also equipped with dynamite messages that are meant to speak out against hate and encourage understanding and compassion. In her most recent release, “Pandora,” this talented artist raises an “anthemic battle cry” which captures her fierce and inspiring conviction concerning feminism. The video which was releases recently for this track was also graced with gritty groundbreaking visuals and stunning displays of feminist pride.
While speaking of the context that supports the “Pandora” visual spectacle Ms. Mohammed states:
The video features women/femme identified non binary artist and activist friends of mine; all with personal experiences of femme phobia and were keen to appear, based on the themes addressed both in song and video. We danced like the patriarchy has ended.
As female empowerment dominates 2018’s headlines, Ms. Mohammed is embracing the worldwide message with her delicious indie-rock masterpiece.
Remember the day Beavis and Butthead immortalized the band “Ween” and the song “Push th’ little Daisies?” Half of the group’s mastermind dean ween, aka the deaner, rounded out by Mike Dillon, Bill Fowler (Sound of Urchin), Adam Weiner (Low Cut Connie), Michael Hampton (Parliament-Funkadelic) make up the dean ween group. Their second album, rock2, will hit the drums of your ears March 16th, 2018.
“Showstopper”, the first track off of rock2, is a garage rock classic, a first-hand account of a small space and loud amps. The second track,”Fingerbangin”, is a semi- surf riff driven track with some superb drumming. I’m sure a crowd favorite at concerts.I was about 3 songs deep when I realized Dean Wean, all suggestive humor aside has become a very seriously seasoned musician. The total 180 spawns a sound you’d find on an old Eagles album. Returning to form with “Theme from skinheads kicking your ass” is saturated with horns in the back, anamorphic bass guitar and it’s easy to sing along to because the only word is “Oi.” Pulling more twists and turns to the albums sound is Rock2’s shining moment, “Yellow Pontiac.”
“You are what you eat, and you are what you drive”
This gritty, grungy, roll around in the swamp mud, tear into a solo cup with your teeth, gulp the beverage inside, and spit out what you chewed off, kinda rock song is seriously humorous.
The album ends with one more turn that isn’t as drastic. A dive bar, blues-rock jam “Sunset over Belmar.” Overall there is plenty of Dean Ween’s style of humor as well as a split personality type of musical diversity.

The indie-rock duo Flagship showcases their new song “The Ladder.” The North Carolina natives share a gripping message on their pleading track. Listening to “The Ladder” for the first time was very relatable to me. It talks of how as members of a society, we just are expected to climb that ladder. So many of us do, and yet we end up in the same place.
The lyric “I’ve been working overtime,” really resonates with me as a young person, because I try to work as much as possible while balancing school and my personal life, which at times can be rough. The message I ultimately took away is that you can climb your ladder, but go at your own pace…or don’t at all. It’s your life and it’s up to you.

After releasing his self-titled track, “Jimmy,” Jimmy has worked tirelessly to produce a music video to accompany his soul searching single. Lyrically, the new release explores demons of all shapes and sizes most of which are popular topics of discussion not only in the news, but among the general public. Some of these include gender equality, addiction, peer pressure and mental health issues. Within the very nature of this song, Jimmy breaks boundaries and explores every corner of the music realm to develop his music that he hopes will inspire listeners to break down the pretentious boundaries that may hold them captive.
Although his music is generally defined as dark pop, it is evident that there are hints and nuances of several diverse genres of music that range from pop to even some rock vibes. This creates contrast between Jimmy and the rest of the rising generation of musicians and performers and allows his creative spirit to avoid being tied down to one specific genre. With this new release, he visually represents breaking out of social boundaries and outside pressures that might inhibit one from living a life they are meant to lead. Strong visuals and an even more spectacular vocal ability are only a few highlights of what this budding artist has in store for the music community and he has fans waiting on the edge of their seats in clear anticipation for future releases and performances.
Roaming Herds Of Buffalo consists of William Cremin, Jared Fiechtner, Neal Flaherty, Scott Roots and Joe Shultz. Together the band makes dark music that makes you feel something, intensely. The band released a new album titled The Bugbears, an work that is thoughtful but takes you on a dark journey at the same time.
The album consists of 7 songs that can be classified as indie pop with a bit of rock. One of the songs from the album is called “Night Owl”, and it is a song that you can get up and dance to. The song takes a different tone from the rest of the album which is dark. “Winter Sun” sets the tone with its beat. The song has a rock vibe to it with a bit of a surf sound.

When you need energy and excitement from all the sappy Christmas music and just want to head bang the day away. On December 24th, 1988 Ozzy Osbourne and Zakk Wylde hosted a special Christmas edition of the Headbangers’ Ball featuring some of the top artists in rock and heavy Metal. This is our 2017 homage to Ozzy and Zakk, this time its just Honan and Gus, but we tried to be as diverse in selection as they were or MTV made them be by picking the songs. We highly recommend watching the episode, its kind of hilarious.
Berkshires-based Woodson Black is a swiss army knife of creativity: singer, musician, photographer, director, writer, videographer, designer, and producer. Under the name Haux, he released his debut EP All We’ve Known last year to great acclaim. Now, he’s back to bless the world with more of his multimedia skills, dropping a new EP, Something to Remember, on March 30. He’s just put out new single “Ricochet”, which encompasses his electronic-folk sound in a vulnerable and floating track.
After moving into an empty apartment with his girlfriend, Haux only had his prized Bechstein piano to fill the space. Recalling the sad history told by the woman who sold it to him of the piano being in her family for years until her husband left, Haux said, “That story hit me hard and was all that I could think about when I sang, “If I’m the rock, you’re the ricochet.”” This inspiration resulted in a stunning track, filling a soundscape of intrigue, emotion, and mellow instrumentals.
Haux’s sophomore EP, Something to Remember, will be out March 30, with an accompanying short film. Until then, check out “Ricochet” here:
