rivvrs, “don’t wanna know”

California-based singer-songwriter RIVVRS is gearing up to release his track “Don’t Wanna Know” on February 9th. A guitar-and-drums filled, mellow yet intriguing track with classic rock elements, “Don’t Wanna Know” brings a variety of pleasant sensations to the ears.

A talented artist who has even gotten songs on TV shows, RIVVRS (aka Brandon Zahursky) is no rookie to the music game, but still provides freshness in every track. RIVVRS will be releasing Cosmic Dream this year, having already released its lead single, “Don’t Give Up On Me”. RIVVRS says of his music: “I hope people listen to the songs that I have, and can somehow hear what is happening in their own lives. Everyone wants to feel a connection.”

His single “Don’t Wanna Know” does just that – it is approachable, relatable, and of course, enjoyable. With guitar that has you hooked from the first notes and vocals to match, “Don’t Wanna Know” is equal parts compelling and calming. RIVVRS also brings a hint of Americana to the song with just a bit of twang in his voice. Keep an eye out for not only “Don’t Wanna Know”, but all of Cosmic Dream as well.

“sunday cups” keeps it cool with fire

“sunday cups” keeps it cool with fire

LA darling Veronica Bianqui is out with a soulful new single titled “Sunday Cups” that brings out the best in her tone and ability to portray relevant relatable topics. “Sunday Cups” addresses the pressure of society to build up impenetrable facades that hide the real personality of the individual. With her bluesy undertones and traditional garage-pop sound, Bianqui is able to share with her listeners what she has observed in those around her all too often. Lyrically, the single relies heavily on well constructed metaphors that highlight the social norms and deconstructs the aforementioned facades of society.

Bianqui also has a deeply rooted history in performance throughout states in the US as well as across Europe. She has had the opportunity to relish in what the music scene has to offer her as she performed along side several different bands. Not only does she have a vocal powerhouse to rely on, but she also has training in musical theatre which adds a unique element to her live performances. However, this artist cannot take all of the credit for herself. In her own words, she attributes most of her success to her mother’s love for blasting The Beatles and Joe Cocker around the house as she grew up. All of this experience has fans on the edge of their seats for what Bianqui has to offer in the near future.

Keep up with her here.

darkest hour, “enter oblivion” {video}

darkest hour, “enter oblivion” {video}

“Enter Oblivion” is the latest video from the melodic death metal band Darkest Hour. Singer John Henry directed the video that was shot in the Mojave Desert at a national natural landmark, Rainbow Basin. Known for being dry and desolate, the basin has awesome rock formations and fossil beds. The video shows the band playing and periodically shows a mysterious white cloaked man wondering around as if to be searching for something.
“Enter Oblivion” comes from the band’s 11th album, Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora, that was released in 2017 and was produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge). This D.C. based 5 piece has come a long way from where they started in 1995. Through multiple line up and record label changes Darkest Hour has really matured and while “Enter Oblivion” is not as heavy as what you’d expect it shows great diversity and still carries their melodic signature tone, double bass, and blast beats.
Over the past 20 years, Darkest Hour has risen up from the underground and just like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, Darkest Hour has put their flag into the metal scene and marked their place as one of the driving forces behind what defines the true melodic brutality of metal.
Hitting the road Feb 16th Darkest Hour will be touring the east coast first and in April heading overseas with Cephalic Carnage. Check out the video for “Into Oblivion” and if you are serious about your metal and lucky enough that Darkest Hour comes through your town be there front and center and prepare for a lesson in brutality.

honey child, honey child

honey child, honey child

Pop group Honey Child is releasing their self-titled ninth album on, you guessed it, February 9th. Honey Child was created by Claire McKeown and features Claire Boutelle, Aimee Jacobs, Danielle Mandell, Dayna Richards, Jacquelyn Sky, and Cynthia Zitter. Each of the ladies in the all female group was hands-on in the production process, making this an album of strength in its design.

The album consists of nine songs and clocks in at 28 minutes in total. One of the songs from the album is titled “Run With Me”, which is the first single released from their album. “Run With Me” is a fascinating song that will transport you to a different world. It is about people that have had enough of materialistic things in the world. The people that are fed up decide to run away to another part of the earth, such as the river. The beat from “Run With Me” is very captivating, the singers basically “steal away” from the world.

Another song from the album is “She Calls His Name”. The beat and the melody mesh seamlessly together. The ladies’ voices blend well together, creating a fascinating affect on the listener. The song is like a mix of classical music – meets a little pop – that will leave you wanting more.

Other songs from the album include “Standing in The Shadows”, “Gotta Wait Another Night”, “I See Other Sides”, “Sorrows Arms”, and “Our Last Goodbye”.

yoste masterfully handles “arc”

yoste masterfully handles “arc”

Yoste is proof that nearly everything that comes from Australia is great — specifically, Brisbane. The 22-year-old singer/songwriter/producer has just released a new single, “Arc”, a mellow yet poignant track mixed by fellow Aussie Tristan Hoogland. Akira Records’ Yoste (irl Kurt Sines) provides the listener with an ethereal soundscape full of soul-filled vocals. Says Yoste of the track, “The road to ‘Arc’ is littered with almost-good-enough ideas. I was like a blocked stream and suddenly I had to get it all out at once. It was tortuous but the result was cathartic, and resulted in ‘Arc’ coming together over the course of just one day.”

Yoste was able to create a masterful track, oozing with both confidence and sensitivity. While some artists may shy away from putting out a quieter track as a single, it does all the right things for Yoste, and proves his self-awareness of not only his style, but also his flexibility. An EP should be in the works for later this year, and we can’t wait to hear what Yoste has in store. Until then, we’ve got “Arc” on repeat.
