If you’re into smooth listening, “take a pill” in the form of “Sea Change” by Rx Soul. The instrumentals are absolutely divine – slightly experimental but with this full, robust, almost-primal vibe to it all – setting the stage for the artist’s incredible vocals. Not only does Rx Soul seem to have an incredible taste for what works, but he’s completely vulnerable with his work, which gives us a deeper respect for it. “Sea Change” is actually about his own struggle, as he explains, “I wrote this song after realizing that much of my time was spent searching for the next high and relying on finding it. It’s an expression of my own reflection at the time, waking up to where I’d been.”

Tomorrow, musician Tony Banks – who began his career as a founder of the rock band Genesis, playing keyboard and composing music for the group – releases his sixth studio album Five. This studio album is unique because this will be Tony Banks’ third album containing classical music following Seven: A Suite for Orchestra in 2004 and Six Pieces for Orchestra.
The album holds five (no pun intended) songs on it, ranging from eight minutes to 15 minutes in length. Tony Banks is on the piano for each of the tracks, while the Czech National Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra Choir, and conductor Nick Ingman make up the orchestral arrangement.
The very first track from the album is “Prelude to a Million Years”. The song is the longest on the album, and exists at a slow tempo, led by beautiful piano chords and a blend of instrumentals. Toward the halfway mark, the music begins to pick up its pace. As the song goes on, it seems like it is taking you on an adventure. “Prelude to a Million Years” is a great starter track to the album. The second song on the track is titled “Reveille”. “Reveille” differs from its predecessor in tempo, starting off fast and then move slowly as the song gets to the middle and then begins to pick back up again. Other songs on the album are “Ebb & Flow”, “Autumn Sonata”, and “Renaissance”.
Five is out tomorrow. Keep up with Tony Banks here.

Tiavara entices heavy metal fans with their latest single “Celestial Dance” from the upcoming album,
Delusional Tales of Grand Intentions. Guitar solos, haunting vocals, and uplifting lyrics give this song an old school metal feel while keeping it fresh and relevant. Hints of Middle Eastern guitar add an extra layer to this metal anthem while hard-hitting drums drive the song’s tempo making it mosh-worthy track.
Tiavara describes “Celestial Dance” as an objection to seeing the world in absolutes while accepting oneself despite flaws and virtues. Their evocative insight is a signature of theirs which is apparent in the band’s past discography. The band aims to encourage and promote open-mindedness through their music. This is apparent through the song’s lyrics “you are free, don’t let them clip your wings” which repeat frequently throughout the song instilling the idea of free thinking into the minds of listeners.
This song is sure to draw metal fans in with its gritty, expressive nature while its powerful lyrics make this song appealing to a variety of music enthusiasts.

While the band appears to be straight out of a 1970’s psychedelic acid flashback,
Krantz comes from the unlikely place of Nashville, TN. Best known for country, honkey tonk, and the grand ole opry,
Krantz has cranked out a college alternative rock song “Run away with me”.
With a musical structure similar to that of the Killers yet an experimental flavor of The Muse, you will find Krantz has added fun to the mix with “Run away with me.” It has a sweeping back and forth medium paced beat that is fused with group vocals during the chorus and a guitar lead that provides good traveling music that will make the vast nothing of the road seem more like a runway for liftoff.
While the song itself sounds as if clean-cut and serious college kids created it, you will understand the “fun” description once you see the branded panties for sale in their “Merch” or the furry pink jacket worn by their singer in promo pics. Yes, even seasoned adult musicians can captivate a listener without taking themselves too seriously and draw a crowd by making people wonder,”whats going on over there with them?”
Like a potato chip, one song just isn’t enough to get the real feel for Krantz. “Run away with me” will spark a curiosity that will lead you straight through their SoundCloud playlist of music.
“Run away with me” is a catchy pop-ish alternative rock song, with softly sung parts that lead the way to an impressive strong note being held out while the guitar line answers back like a conversation between friends. The lyrical content begs to leave the cold weather behind and head out to a warmer location. I can’t blame them. I am here in Arizona and it’s 80 degrees of wonderful in January while the weather in Nashville shows a high in the upper 40’s. For all of you suffering in the bitter cold, time to pack it up with this hit the road anthem “Run away with me.”

Who hasn’t wished to be loved back by someone who never will? Be prepared to find yourself in love with “Love Me Back” by J.D. King.
With an extensive knowledge and musically-attuned upbringing, Los Angeles’ J.D. King brings attention to detail into every aspect of his work. Coming February 2, J.D King’s single “Love Me Back” is not one to miss. Not only is “Love Me Back” a wonderful song, but King is also set to drop the accompanying music video, full of retro eye candy, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere.
“Love Me Back” encapsulates the pangs of unrequited love and doing everything possible to win the affections of a significant other. With nostalgic guitar that brings the listener back to the 70’s, King has really made a treat for the ears, with a video to match – the sort of song you instantly want on repeat. With equal parts effortlessness and evident skill, “Love Me Back” is testament to King’s musical expertise.
Says King of the track:
“Love Me Back” was a subconscious ditty I just came up with while waiting in a car. We recorded it live to tape and it sounded pretty great with just 4 tracks. The film represents the fool who looks to others for love and validation while not yet realizing that love truly comes from within. So, myself acting the fool in this case, gets quite a lickin’ from a carefree wildcat goddess for this misunderstanding. I sort of used a Buster Keaton persona for the acting part which I’ve always wanted to try. I hope you enjoy “Love Me Back”!
From the guitar solo to King’s soothing, clear vocals, we’re falling for “Love Me Back”, and we think you will too.

Though her music has been critically acclaimed as “bedroom-pop” Jay Som‘s new vinyl release has broken out of the traditional mold and has moved into the spotlight. This artist’s music has been known to have a “crushing venerability” that all who know her seem to crave. Her newest hit, “O.K, Meet Me Underwater” was recently released on her 7-inch titled Pirouette, and has taken the indie-pop industry by storm. Not only has the artist featured this new song in the album, but also includes two songs originally meant for her previous album Everybody Works that were deemed “out of place” by Jay herself.
Since the start of this young artist’s career, those who know her have been raving about her debut album Everybody Works which received “Best of 2017” from acclaimed critics such as NPR Music, Rolling Stone and Billboard. Now, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Melina Duterte, under the persona of Jay Som, has once again created a cover that highlights her ability to write and produce relatable music that has blown away listeners. Though not many could predict her success early on in her career, Duterte has surely transformed how the music industry views “bedroom-pop” artists.
As a child, Melina Duterte had dreams of one day attending professional jazz programs, but decided later on to see where songwriting could take her. While enrolled in community college, Duterte created her own personal studio where she could create music the way she believes it should be done. From that small studio, under the moniker of Jay Som, Duterte has turned the corner on one of the fastest growing genres in the indie pop industry.
Pirouette is available now.

Spiritus is the second album from blues rock group Jane Lee Hooker, following the band’s first album No B!.
Jane Lee Hooker consists of five women – Dana ‘Danger” Athens on vocals, Hail Mary Z on bass, Melissa ‘Cool Whip’ Houston on drums, Tracy ‘Hightop’ on guitar, and Tina ‘T Bone’ Gorin on guitar – and accepts taking on the challenge of good blues with Spiritus.
The ten track album is really good and has high energy throughout every song. The tracks are inspirational, full of high energy, and encourage the listener to live their best life. The sound of the blues is prominent in each track on the new release. “Gimmie That” has a sound that shifts from blues to pop with high energy. Tracks like “Ends Meet” and “Mama Said” contain the band’s quintessential blues influence, but also a little bit of rock n’ roll.
The name of the album means “spirit,” and follows the theme of finding yourself in life. It lends itself to the idea of taking chances and not being afraid to be yourself. It is a fun listen, and will absolutely keep you engaged from start to finish.
