With the help of a beautiful piano intro, musical duo Mauwe releases their latest single “Strangers” today. We get a hit of realism with chilling vocals on a this bittersweet track like “After everything that you put me through, yeah that shit don’t matter now—-I really hope you’re happy now.” Mauwe opens up in the tug of war of what it’s like to still deeply care about an ex on the track. On one hand “Didn’t think this would happen to us, we’re strangers now,” remained unexpected, while on the other hand, the talk of “I really hope you’re happy,” is the realization that one party has moved on forward.
The track may be bittersweet but it is really good, from the lyrics to vocal execution. “Strangers” is sure to be a hit that you’ll sing-cry to in your car.
Tour Dates
April 12th – Moles Club Bath
April 13th – Purple Turtle, Reading
May 10th – Sixt Million Postcards, Bournemouth
May 11th – Also Known As, Banbury

Brooding, cinematic and filled with movement, “VHS #2: Masks” is here. Philadelphia based four-piece Sixteen Jackies have just dropped this brand new track, a song that heralds the coming of their Movie Was Bad & Mascula double EP being released on a 12” record in May. The track will appear on the Mascula side and references the classic horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Nodding to the dimensions of personality in the movie, “VHS #2: Masks” takes on many angles and forms as well. Sixteen Jackies is delightfully different, and anyone looking for a slightly off-kilter track will not be disappointed.
Sixteen Jackies is comprised of vocals and guitar by Joey DeMarco, guitarist/keyboardist Jeremiah Bull, Ian Staley on drums and keys, and bassist Tim Davis. Where some bands try to be different in all the wrong ways, Sixteen Jackies nails it, owns it, and maintains authenticity. “VHS #2: Masks” is the result of a band knowing their sound and vision, as well as being able to clearly communicate it. This track is not one to miss.
Keep an eye out for Movie Was Bad & Mascula double EP out on May 4.

Zak Mering has been releasing music under the name Raw Thrills for the past 7 years. Raw Thrills has released a new song “Bad Dream Blues” featuring Sun Pack. The song has a classic beat similar to a David Bowie song. Raw Thrills gives a sound similar to the Beatles as well.
The song is reminiscent to a sound that that you would hear back in the 60s. Bad Dream Blues sounds like a song you would listen to on the beach. Raw Thrills clearly has a hit on his hands with this song. The song is catchy with a classic beat from start to finish.

Soothing, well-crafted, and moving. That’s what Sammy Strittmatter’s brand new track, “When She Sleeps” is. This new song will appear on Stritmatter’s upcoming record, Get Out of the City, dropping May 18 via Palo Santo Records. The Texas-bred, L.A.-based artist has clearly honed his craft, and it shines in “When She Sleeps”. This track is heaven for anyone needing some great acoustic guitar in their life. The chords perfectly accompany the confident yet soft vocals.
Says Strittmatter of his new track:
I first tracked this song while living in Arlington, TX. For about five years, I lived in a house that was built in 1916 for the Mayor. It was the first house built in the South Center Street Historic District. The house was all wood, so it had amazing acoustics in every room. Also, it had this stunningly tall stairwell, and I would place microphones at the very bottom, top, and in between, capturing a unique natural reverb. It was an inspiring place to think and create, which led to me writing the guitar part for this song.
“When She Sleeps” is not a track you’ll want to miss out on, so give it a listen today.
Watch for Get Out of the City, out May 18. Stay connected with Sammy Strittmatter:

Leftover Salmon is a American band from Boulder, Colorado that has spent over 30 years on the road together. This time, the band has returned again with their latest single “Southern Belle”. “Southern Belle” is a song mixed with a folksy sound and a heartbreaking end to a romance. The song has a mix of piano and banjo, giving just the right beat to back up the song.
The song and the video, gives the band a fresh new sound and look. The video for the song gives off great visuals and shows different angles of beauty. The music video for “Southern Belle” matches perfectly with the message of the song.
Although Leftover Salmon has been gone for a little while, “Southern Belle” proves that the band still has its flare.

The cool thing about writing for a music magazine is that you get a first look at new music. I recently had the opportunity of listening to Anton Barbeau‘s latest album Natural Causes, which will be released April 13th on Beehive. My favorite track is iconically titled “Summer of Gold.” About a minute in, all I could think about was open road and as I write this I just hit the lyric “Steal a car, hit the road.” “Summer of Gold” takes you back to old America— a simpler time of road trips, convertibles, and cheap motels. The album has a range of fifteen tracks, starting with “(preamble)” and ending with “(ultimate outro).”
One thing to be noted of this album is Anton’s voice as he has a great vocal range. While “Summer of Gold” is my personal favorite, it’s tracks like “It’s The Coffee that Makes The Man Go Mad” and “Magic Sandwiches” that remain equally quirky and unique. The creativity on this album is also seen in the not two, but four intros/outros. “(Preambiguation)” and “(penultimate outro)” are interesting breaks that seamlessly make the album come together.
The Berlin based artist himself has a few words on Natural Causes:
My previous record, Magic Act, was my first on LP. It’s also an album I see in either an alpha or omega role, an introduction for new fans and a sparkly reminder to those that have tried to follow me for a while. Surviving the 2016 election AND turning 50, I’m treating Natural Causes like it’s my second album. The songs I remade are there for personal reasons, enough said. Magazine Street happened to be the first track on my first ever CD, so everything’s come a bit full-circle, as it were.
Stay tuned for the album release on April 13th and keep up with Anton Barbeau here.

Rachael Cantu just released her refreshing video for the latest track “You’re the Most.” The video opens in a kitchen with a girl sitting in her kitchen pondering life. The scene then cuts to the sink where we see roses and a pink cake batter being mixed (baking a cake for a lover is my suspect). Cut to an adorable girl in pink, smiling while walking down the street. Then the cutest thing happens. Both parties meet in front of a rose bush. Sometimes staring at each other, sometimes hugging. This video is a very candid depiction of what it means to “start falling in love with someone.” There are always conflicting feelings of that point when one starts being vulnerable with someone which is why the lyrics state “I’m a loner, that I’ll own it–you’re the most I’ve ever wanted.”
