Seattle based dream-pop band Headwaves has just released their latest music video for their rising single “Left Right.” Lead singer Ryan Barber started this journey with a love of writing music that portrayed emotion and feeling. With effortless talent, Barber originally wrote folk songs, however, it soon became clear that folk music could not move an audience like he wanted. Over the span of two years and the addition of friend and musician Larson Haakenstad and producer Randall Dunn, Barber was finally able to create sound around his lyrics that had a deeply satisfying effect on his listeners. With the help of their producer, this dynamic duo feature fantastic synth rock rhythms with lush, dreamy “dance driven” beats.
The most recent music video for “Left Right,” highlights everything that listeners look for when they think of dream pop. The videography features hazy scenes and muted color schemes that seem to allow viewers the escape that they so desperately desire. Along with their creative use of color and screen writing, they were able to create an atmosphere with their music and movements that is enticing and completely envelops the listener. Now that they have several singles and the addition of this new music video, music listeners from around the country are starting to pay attention to this budding dream pop band from Seattle.
Manchester-bred Bipolar Sunshine (irl Adio Marchant) is back at it again with another amazing single. Having released hit tracks like “Whole Heart”,“Major Love” and appearing on “Middle” with DJ Snake in 2017, Bipolar Sunshine is now blessing his fans with a brand new release: “Pressure”. The single is the first of his highly anticipated 2018 EP, Imaginarium. Not only has he dropped the new single, but a spectacular music video as well.
Marchant used to sing for ska band Kid British before heading out on his solo career in 2013. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to put out quality music, delighting both devoted fans and new listeners alike. The video, directed by Matilda Finn, is fresh, modern, and extremely aesthetically pleasing. Marchant “wanted the audience to feel like they’re watching a movie. Some Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the movie Blow kinda feels.” and he definitely achieved this goal; the “Pressure” video is Hollywood through and through. “Pressure” is not your typical love song; it combines angst, desire, purity, and confusion within a few minutes of music. If you haven’t checked out Bipolar Sunshine before, do it today.

Unpredictability and trance-inducing music has become the expectation from fans and critics of freak-fuzz Baltimore based duo Ed Schrader. Together, Ed Schrader and Devlin Rice have created a sound that it unique and completely their own and now they are bringing their newest tour, “Riddles” to a town near you. Since their formation in 2010 this group has participated in nineteen U.S tours leaving very little amount of time to produce new records. However, with a new full length album release, they are ready to hit the road once again and see where it takes them.
With the addition of this new album to their musical artillery, the duo races through a world of synth melodies and 80’s pop influences. Their sound has often been described as unpredictable and erratic, but harmonious all at the same time. This composed chaos, however, is just one of the many attractions of Ed Schrader. With their music at the forefront of their performances, they are able to deliver a spectacle that will both amaze and surprise all that are in attendance. With the release of their new album and the announcement of their next tour, Ed Schrader has proved that he has what it takes to take these explorations into the unknown to the next level.
the lampshades, a trio from Pittsburgh, are getting ready to release their album Astrology on March the 23rd of 2018 through Mint 400 Records. As a teaser, the guys, that have been playing together since they were teenagers, have released a video to accompany their teaser single release, “Civilization and its Discontents” via YouTube.
A traveling video with plenty of the cities views with some cool effects added to the sequences. Wait for the 0:38 mark as the guys are squished together singing in unison looking just as the song says, discontent. It’s a little humorous. I definitely got the vibe of a mundane, in and out, everyday, routine where they city just becomes so blah.
Behold, as comes the ending and images of nature in flight. Maybe it represents the ability to be free and fly away, or maybe its a look at the everyday beauty of things we often take for granted as we shrug off passing the same skyscraper every day.
Either way, this indie-alternative-grunge sounding band has something to offer both visual and auditory. The Lampshades will be playing some local shows in support of the album release. HEY PITTSBURGH, get out and support your homegrown boys. For the rest of the world keep up with the lampshades by visiting their website.
Los Angeles-based Michael Goldman continues to entertain with his solo project NONA. His new track “Girls” and its accompanying video are evidence of his talents as a solo musician. A creative video, “Girls” is full of drawings of a man and a woman. The video goes through a span of a relationship and what a relationship goes through. A powerful message behind it, the video shows the power that some partners in relationships have over their partner’s body. Raw emotions that couples often deal with in their relationships come to the forefront in this visual.
Although a illustrated video, it shows the pain partners cause on one another and how they are connected. “Girls” is a fantastic video from start to finish due to the illustrations and its realism.
