Harley Alexander-Sule, otherwise known as his stage name Jimi Charles Moody is taking the world by storm with his new EP Highbury. Branching off from the duo Rizzle Kicks, Jimi Charles Moody only plans to go up in the music industry, especially after an EP like Highbury. Highbury consists of four songs jam packed with R&B music. After listening to the EP, four songs are simply not enough.

One of the hidden gems on the album is Shame. Shame is filled with raw vocals and a great sound. The song is about not regretting love. Shame is hands down a great song to start Jimi Charles Moody’s solo career. Each song on the EP has a different sound to it. Happy Song is a song that will instantly make you want to get up and snap your fingers while Prolong the Pain and Only You will automatically make even your heart shed a tear. The entire album is perfection in its own right due to each song being different in its own way.

Highbury is pure gold from beginning to end, this EP has just the right music to set Jimi Charles Moody’s career soaring. Highbury is available now.

the aces, “volcanic love”

the aces, “volcanic love”

Four-piece girl group The Aces are releasing their highly anticipated debut record, When My Heart Felt Volcanic, on April 6, and have just dropped the title track, “Volcanic Love”. After a successful 2017, performing with Portugal. The Man, Joywave, and others, The Aces prepare to take center stage with their brand new single. The quartet is composed of vocalist/guitarist Cristal Ramirez, her sister Alisa on drums, guitar from Katie Henderson, and rounded out with bass player McKenna Petty.

Not only has the Utah band dropped “Volcanic Love”, but also an accompanying music video. The beautiful music video was co-directed by Nico Poalillo and Alisa Ramirez, and tells not only timeless love stories, but that of The Aces as well. with nods to The Great Gatsby, Heathers, and 500 Days of Summer among others. If the visuals of the video alone don’t, the musical aspects of “Volcanic Love” will make you fall for The Aces immediately.

If you’re wondering what the new record might sound like, give The Aces’ previous EP I Don’t Like Being Honest a listen for a feel of their sound on Spotify.

hinds, “the club”

Hinds are back at it again with a brand new single, “The Club”, appearing on their upcoming second album I Don’t Run. The Madrid-based girl group is comprised of Carlotta Cosials (vocals and guitar), Ana Perrote (guitar and vocals), Ade Martin (bass and backing vocals), and Amber Grimbergen (drums). Having amassed a loyal following, the four-piece are now ready to start their world tour in support of the sophomore album. Filled with devil-may-care attitude, killer guitar moments, and a rollicking beat, “The Club” is the epitome of the unique sound that Hinds have made their own.

Hinds say of their new track:

When we wrote ‘The Club’ and first listened to it we couldn’t believe that we hadn’t [written] it before and that we hadn’t been listening to it for years. A friend said that it is more Hinds than Hinds themselves hahah. That’s why we chose putting it as the track 1 of the album. From now on it’s our presentation card.

levv, “hands on me”

levv, “hands on me”

As if we didn’t make enough of a scene with the incredible uplifting support around the world during yesterday’s International Women’s Day festivities, there is more support on the way with today’s release of LEVV‘s “Hands on Me”. Inspired by her past struggles with harassment and the #MeToo movement, the track lends comfort to victims of sexual harassment.

LEVV’s vocals are smooth as honey, leaving an Imogen Heap-esque impression on the soul. The tranquil, electronic backtrack makes the song incredible addictive to listen to, changing the narrative to one of acceptance, beauty, and strength. We’re impressed by her harrowing story, and know that other listeners will find solace in it as well.

for esmé, “doubtmouth”

for esmé, “doubtmouth”

Toronto-based solo artist For Esmé has just released her brand new single, “Doubtmouth”, off her forthcoming record, Righteous Woman. Filled with the musings of the singer and a shaking off of tradition, Esmé brings a refreshingly unapologetic message with this single. She says that “Doubtmouth” is about “the doubt that chokes us, and the labels that shrink us, to find a voice and body that refuses to be quieted.” The track addresses these hard-hitting ideas in a fantastically organized production of music; Esmé has hit the nail on the head.

Says Esmé on her upcoming album: “My forthcoming LP, Righteous Woman, is a feminist awakening and excavation of the voices within. As I worked to uncover my own internalized misogyny and to interrogate the things I repress and overthink, I simultaneously researched”. Her single is already giving us a taste of her For Esmé’s upcoming LP, Righteous Woman will be released May 25th.

australian house artist husky shakes up the scene with latest single

australian house artist husky shakes up the scene with latest single

Australian producer and house artist Husky dropped his new beat “Can’t Shake It Off.” He’s not alone on the track though. He has help from X-Factor artist Nat Conway and the song already has been remixed Alaia & Gallo and Mark Di Meo.

I’m a big fan of house music or as I like to call it “catwalk music.” What really makes a house track for me, is the tempo whether it be the consistency or inconsistency of the beats, the vocals (if there are any), and the ability to make you feel  relaxed or even “oh so fab.” Husky executes all these things with the assistance of Nat Conway’s sweet but sassy vocals. It is a song that will make you want to strut, a song that will make you want to roll your windows down, and a song that I’ve already played three times back-to-back (oops!).

the naked and famous strip it down for us with a still heart

the naked and famous strip it down for us with a still heart

Today, The Naked and Famous release their album A Still Heart. The album is a collection of acoustic sounds, much different from their previous work with a slightly more simple and intimate sound. The 10 track album is amazing from beginning to end, the stripped tracks giving the listeners a more personal listen to a band we all know and love.

The Naked and Famous really turn back time with A Still Heart. The album is absolute gold, and may even sound better than the original recordings. Upon listening to the album in its entirety, it may seem like you are listening to the songs for the very first time, that is how raw they are. The group may be revisiting their old material, but it definitely helps you see them in a new light. The album is well worth the listen due to the sound that has never been heard before from the band. The album will surely leave listeners hoping for more music like this in the future.

zhu + tame impala, “my life”

zhu + tame impala, “my life”

Electronic ZHU artist teams up with Tame Impala on new track “My Life.” With the reputation of the names attached to this new track, here’s no doubt that this collaboration will be a major one at that. The audio for “My Life” is set to a simple black car cruising on the freeway, but it’s enough to draw you in and keep you there. Not to mention Tame Impala’s soft vocals and ZHU’s beats with jazzy undertones gives for the track’s “chill vibe.”
