freedom fry, classic

freedom fry, classic

Freedom Fry is set to release their debut album Classic Friday, June 1st. I know Freedom Fry fondly as I recently reviewed their single off of Classic “Cold Blooded Heart.”  Freedom Fry is an indie duo, whose voices were meant to be together.  The duo consists of Parisian born Marie Seyrat, and Michigan born Bruce Driscoll.   “Die Tryin” is the second single release off of Classic.  A regretful love song, Freedom Fry sings on what could have been done differently.  “I’m the worst, I’m a first class jerk, but I need you tonight,” Bruce humbly sings.  “Oh I’m going to get you or I’m gonna die tryin,” belts the chorus.  What may seem like a hopeless track at first, turns into a sweet, romantic track and the will to “die tryin” to do right by a lover.

Of course, I love “Cold Blooded Heart,” a not so romantic track cursing a heart breaker with “Cold blooded heart, yeah that’s how I pegged you from the start.”  “Awake,” remains a little more upbeat and even “tropical.”  “Awake! Here we go,” harmonize the duo.  The song remains lifted with sounds of ukulele, bongos, and whistles.  Shifting from the somber side of Freedom Fry, “Awake” simply remains a positive feel-good, indie song.  One really cool thing about the release of Classic, is the album trailer.  The artsy trailer on YouTube feature Emma Kenney (Yes, Debbie from the hit Showtime series, Shameless.) Emma navigates her way around downtown through coffee shops, thrift, and record stores with her walkman cassette player as each song off of Classic is previewed.  The trailer is really something, as Freedom Fry allows a sneak preview of their debut album in an aesthetic and cinematic nature.

Classic is out tomorrow. Keep up with Freedom Fry here.

Discovering that he has a unique way of allowing his audience to escape through his music, up and coming musician Pale Green Things – the moniker for Jack Traynor – has released a new single entitled, “The islands” that was crafted to do just that. As fans and spectators around the globe have commented, Pale Green Things allows them to leave behind the stress and anxiety of this world and experience the dreamy lushness of beautiful sound. “The Islands” was inspired by São Miguel Island in the Azores region of Portugal. The soothing melody is layered with gorgeous soundscapes that speak of both relief and safety. However, like all inspired pieces, this track is full of movement and, as the song continues, fans can feel the reality creeping in on the corners of their existence as they are pulled back into their true circumstance through skilled, flickering guitar acoustics.

As this indie-folk artist tours around his home in the United Kingdom, he has his eyes set on the future and what he can accomplish with his unique skills and abilities. With more experience and stage time over the past year, he has gained an international fan base that is continuing to grow, as he progresses and brings his music to a more advanced level. Without a doubt, as more time passes, Pale Green Things will continue to surprise and impress–effectively etching his name in the music community.

Californian singer-songwriter Chris Lambert is gearing up to release his brand new record, The Constant Education of Christopher Lambert on May 9. The indie folk album is the eleventh full-length release by Lambert, and features “Right”, a charming and well-crafted track that is both introspective and relatable.

Says Lambert, “I spent a couple of years doing a deep dive into my past, figuring out a bunch of things that had been left unresolved or unspoken for too long. Once I got that stuff out on the last album, I felt like I could finally start focusing on day to day things. I realized that it’s harder than it seems, to not dwell on the past or worry about the future.”

“Right” shows the maturity that Lambert has reached, not only as an artist, but also as a human. The acoustic track pairs insightful lyricism with a gentle yet purposeful melody. While the track involves self-conversation, many listeners can put themselves in Christopher’s shoes. It’s different yet familiar, and a refreshingly authentic track.

The Constant Education of Christopher Lambert is out on May 9, so keep an eye out for it! Stay connected with Chris Lambert: InstagramFacebookBandcamp
