LA based pop singer ANNALIA sings about relationships in her new song “Dust”, which is a track about relationships and why it is important to figure out your true feelings for a person. ANNALIA sings about it being important to have a healthy relationship rather than being in a toxic one. Establishing feelings before you fully devote yourself to someone is important, and that is what ANNALIA stresses in her song.
The track also comes with a self-choreographed visual video to go with the song. Dust is one of the tracks from her debut EP available May 11th. The song is a great intro to begin ANNALIA’s career in music.
Black Moon Tape has just dropped their new video for “Reset”. Since 2016, the Belgian duo, made up of Will Z. and drummer Pierre Vancraenenbroeck, has been piecing together years of unfinished projects and unreleased concepts that Will Z. worked on as a teenager in the 90’s. The result was The Salvation of Morgane, the band’s debut album, which dropped in 2017, re-released in 2018 with more tracks, and an EP, Reset. Will Z. has previously been a part of Cosmic Trip Machine, as well as working as a solo artist, and is now joined by drummer Vancraenenbroeck to create Black Moon Tape. Though a Belgian band, Will Z. sings in English, and draws from a variety of genres to create Black Moon Tape’s own melding of psychedelic rock.
The pair now drops the video for “Reset”, created out of pixel art, taking the viewer on a psychedelic journey that explores the stress and pressure put on music to put out numbers in today’s world.
“Hit and Run” is the latest single from Parker Matthews who also just released a video for the track. Before I watched the pop newcomer’s video, I had to just listen to the song itself. “Hit and Run” is a bubblegum pop infused track with, of course, the perfect voice (Parker Matthews) to complete the song.
“Start it one-by-one, cuz’ this ain’t no hit and run,” Parker sings, proclaiming a love song for a special someone. With Parker’s high voice, catchy tune, and upbeat chorus, I soon found myself swaying by the end of the song. The second time I listened to the song I viewed the video for “Hit and Run.” Set in city night life and donned in an all black outfit (shades included), we see Parker walking up to an apartment for a house party. With a crowd dancing and Parker singing, he shows off his fierce dance moves and has no problems “feeling himself,” which adds to that “pop-party” vibe that the song encompasses.
Pop Dust, who premiered the video described “Hit and Run” as “decorated with sticky drum loops and fluorescent synth makeup, embodies classic dance music but dispatches a crucial, heart-pounding message.” Pop music, in its essence, is something you can dance to—but also be in your feelings about and “Hit and Run” definitely hits the nail on the head.
Musical duo Black Satellite – comprised of Larissa Vale and Kyle Hawken, who met in their hometown in Pennsylvania – is not only dynamic, but also diverse. Their beats and powerful vocals make them a force to be reckoned with, and they’re back with a new single titled “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend”. The song is a tribute to Type O Negative’s late founder Peter Steele, and is an absolute adventure to listen to, as well as to watch in the dark, brooding new music video. “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend” has a use of heavy guitars and drums, and is something you can get up and dance to while feeling carefree.
“My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend” honors the legacy of Peter Steele perfectly. The track is well worth the listen.
Self-proclaimed indie “space” rock duo Neverthere – comprised of Andrew Sclafani and Robert Ragosta – is hitting the ground running with the cinematic new music video for their single “Labs”. While raspy vocals encase the listener in this rich, indulgent sound, the video takes you through what looks to be a couple’s pretty insane romantic journey. What pulled the man in? What happened during the course of it all? What are they fighting about? And why did he just wake up on a beach alone?
Figure it all out during the course of the 3:36 video right now!
EP1 is out now. Keep up with Neverthere here. (If they’re ever there. HA!)
Rachael Cantu just released her refreshing video for the latest track “You’re the Most.” The video opens in a kitchen with a girl sitting in her kitchen pondering life. The scene then cuts to the sink where we see roses and a pink cake batter being mixed (baking a cake for a lover is my suspect). Cut to an adorable girl in pink, smiling while walking down the street. Then the cutest thing happens. Both parties meet in front of a rose bush. Sometimes staring at each other, sometimes hugging. This video is a very candid depiction of what it means to “start falling in love with someone.” There are always conflicting feelings of that point when one starts being vulnerable with someone which is why the lyrics state “I’m a loner, that I’ll own it–you’re the most I’ve ever wanted.”
Sons of An Illustrious Father have been on a roll with their particular brand of music. Their latest song, “Extraordinary Rendition” is a prime example of their rise. Consisting of the very talented Ezra Miller, Lilah Larson, and Josh Aubin, Sons of an Illustrious Father have created a video that is creative and interesting from the very start. “Extraordinary Rendition” is a song that captivates the feeling of the unknown. The song shows what it is like to move out of the ordinary things that one is use to, and takes on a new journey, seeing things that they are not used to. The video shows the artists seeing things in a strange, unfamiliar way. “Extraordinary Rendition” is a work of art that shows off Sons of An Illustrious Father’s creativity as a band.
Keep up with Sons of An Illustrious Father here, and keep your eyes peeled for their new record in June!
Tess Roby just release her latest single “Catalyst” off of her album Beacon. “Catalyst” is fleeting, keeping your ears listening. Tess has an impressive voice and shows off her skills on this track. Her voice feels soft and calming as she tells the tale of “unrequited love.” Tess’s voice is chilling as she enters the track with “A catalyst of love, of everything received…” Vocals are paired with an intro of horns, but in the middle the song takes a turn for electronic and mystical. My favorite line is “Tremors rising in your eye—define goodbye.” Tess Roby’s voice fades out on the track singing “ringing in the air, ringing in the air, ringing in the air.” Its visual component is spectacular. Totally worth the watch, perhaps a few times?
AK Patterson just released “Shadows” off of a debut EP which will be releasing in July. It will be the first track from AK Patterson that is produced by Charlie Andrew (Marika Hackman, Alt J). The song has a folk feel while remaining sultry and temperamental, with strong foundations rooted in Alex Patterson’s voice. Alex has studied the meditation of monks in Japan, and you can hear the inspiration from her journey on this track.
Not only does “Shadows” feel haunting, the video is equally enthralling. The video is very artsy with bodies surrounding each other, as shadows go in and out, creating a seductive visual which fits Alex’s voice perfectly. Be sure to look out for AK Patterson’s debut EP which will be releasing in July.
