Saturday afternoon. Your phone has rarely been touched since your time on the farm began. It’s sweltering, and it’s just past 2pm on Saturday, which means there is still plenty of daylight left to mess something up. It’s a series of texts and a missed call by bands you’re scheduled to photograph soon. They’re both finished with previous engagements early, and both ready to take some quick photos.
Liily — an intriguing Los Angeles-based alternative quartet comprised of Maxx Morando – (drums), Sam De La Torre (guitar), Charlie Anastasis (bass), Dylan Nash (vocals) — has found one of the coolest areas on the farm, both in temperature and in vibe. It made it easy for us to round out some incredibly cool, relaxed photos.

For fans of: Young the Giant, COIN, St. Motel, Phoenix, The Wombats
On their newest single “Rhythm & Gold”, Paper Lions shows off some of their finest indie-pop skills: that ability to implant a radiant summer’s day right into your speakers. With a thumping bass line that’s sure to increase your heart rate, the Canadian four-piece tell a tale of the electricity of falling in love with playing music – as well as dealing with the trials and tribulations that come with life as a touring band. The song’s unblemished cheeriness never falters, as call-and-response vocals and upbeat hand-claps encourage the listener to join in with every beat of the chorus.
“Rhythm & Gold” not only supplies the glitteriest aspects of indie pop sweetness, it also gives some insight to the group’s journey in working together to make it in the music world. Vocalist John MacPhee reaches out to his bandmates with reassurance in the resounding chorus: “This is where I wanna stay, where we started loving rock and roll,” referencing their roots that trace back to the early 2000’s. Originally formed in 2004 under the Chucky Danger Band, the quartet (brothers John MacPhee and Rob MacPhee, Colin Buchanan and David Cyrus MacDonald) began going as Paper Lions officially in 2008. They have since been nominated for 8 music awards, and won an Independent Music Award for their 2012 EP At Long Creek. Aside from a Christmas tune titled “Where Is My Love For Christmas”, this new track is the band’s first release since their most recently debuted album, titled At Long Creek II (2018). Here’s to a summer full of “Rhythm & Gold”!

Wild Wing’s fourth record New Futures is the epitome of eclectic rock-and-roll. Growing up together in Los Angeles, band members David Gantz, Max Garland, Zach Miller, and Theo Cohn continue to display an unbreakable bond as well as showcase their musical talents as a bonafide rock band.
The record completely redefines the rock genre by including punk, pop, and electronic influences that as jarring as they are the perfect match for each individual song. From the electronica instrumental of “Futures (Intro)” to the screamo sounds of “Triumph” to the rock-and-roll anthem of “Momma’s Got a Brand New Bag” to the country twang of “Ontario,” each song takes you to a whole other place, which is essentially what makes Wild Wing so wild in their approach to music. Their openness towards experimentation allows for New Futures to capture the essence of true rock-and-roll.

K.Flay‘s energy was insane on Day 2 of Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival last week in Manchester, TN. Though her look a stark contrast from last time we got to see her live — her departure from an all black ensemble into simple, bright colored shorts and a t-shirt fit the heat of the outdoor stage a little better — her flare for the dramatic and fun were almost more palpable than before. Today, instrumentalist Daniela Savoldi releases the latest music video from her recent album Ragnatele, for her gorgeous song “Space”. We’ve got the official premiere, which will lead you to witness incredible scenery, essentially poetry in motion. Explains Savoldi:
“Space” is a musical piece with no internal timing, hovered , where sounds and thoughts mix up building a free sonority and a free thought. Music notes fly to the infinite, regrowing aware higher and higher. The pizzicato is the earthly element of this piece, the wire connecting present and future. The clip, with its amazing images, succeeded in recreate this world made of earth, water and air and I felt totally melted into these three elements. I decided to add a sentence at the end of the video…WE ALL ARE ONE …to remember that we are part of the beauty and to preserve it we have to respect it.

“SPACE” is poignant and very sweet . Wistful sometimes but at the same time full of air, full of deep breaths… It is from these very immediate and intense emotions that everything started from. This video is a tribute to the beauty that Daniela Savoldi‘s notes recall. This beauty surrounds us and wraps us around. It is an open, lively and unlimited space created by a magnetic sound. I tried to be a gentle breeze. I painted Daniela‘s energy totally fused with nature thanks to the awsome images by Laura Mantovi. Daniela is connected with nature. The wind cleans and regenerates.

Recently, indie pop duo Courtship. released the music video for their track “Guy Stuff”. With a female protagonist, the video highlights the absurdity of societal norms by allowing a gorgeous, arm candy-worthy, domesticated woman to run around smoking cigars, dancing, and acting out in a way you wouldn’t expect with an initial glance. It’s a joyous video, and shot beautifully. Dive in below!

Holdan implements features of hip hop and pop alike, drawing influence from smooth Atlanta trap beats alongside lyrical themes of feeling like an outsider from an “in-crowd”. These feelings, shown in the setup to the chorus, are confidently declared: “People take issue…with the things that I say…they all say ‘stop’.” This track is an example of
Holdan’s ability to assert his unique perspective and withdraw from a scene he does not find compatibility with, all while never disrupting the track’s mellow vibe. Shortly before releasing “Bright Red”,
