Brighton-based indie pop quintet Fickle Friends recently released a synth-driven, flurry of sound in the form of their track “Broken Sleep”. The new song just so happens to be the title track of their debut EP on Palmeira Records. “Broken Sleep” is smooth as honey in its disposition, the percussion hitting in the right places and in just the right 80s/90s way that you can’t help but move your hips to it all. This track would serve well in a crowded club setting, whether at an upscale dance club with neon lights or in a dingy underground nightclub in SoHo.

On the rise folk duo Fox and Bones have released their new single “Little Animal” along with a fun energetic video to follow! Made up of Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore, the duo use their talented songwriting, along with their unique vocals in order to captivate new audiences and build their fan base. Prior to their new song, the duo has released an ample amount of their own music which has allowed them to skyrocket over the past few years and create better music each and every time. “Little Animal”, a fun and upbeat song has a perfect video to match just as well with the song. The video holds an amusing vibe that includes both animal and human characters running around and having fun on a sunny summer day. Not only does this video send a free spirited message, but it also matches the statement that the song itself portrays. Although this is a folk song, Fox and Bones adds a hint of pop to it to give it something a little extra, so it can fit into almost any genre for everyone to enjoy!

LA-based artist KODA released his latest single “Nazareth” and it is a dynamic, atmospheric track. He is brutally honest about his inner struggles and the complexity of them. This song reminds me of how current pop music has openly embraced mental health issues in a way that relates to the younger generations of today. There has been a shift from bubblegum pop to a darker, more real approach. In that way, KODA’s sound reflects the millennial pop/R&B vibes of Zayn or The Weeknd. The subtle beat paired with his emotional vocals create a deeply personal, emotional track that gets extremely candid about his anxiety. Getting this personal is always risky, always scary, but KODA has achieved it in a way that shows his truth and, as a result, created a beautiful piece.
Made up of Dalton Allison, Javi Reyes, Jake Hirshland, Wesley Toledo, Matt Williams, and Joe Keery, rock band Post Animal recently released their new video for their emerging song “Ralphie”. Joe Keery, both a member of Post Animal and an actor on popular television show Stranger Things was able to squeeze in the filming of “Ralphie” despite his busy schedule. This video grasps all of the concepts that the song itself proposes from an amusing thrill-seeking video, to a classic psych-rock vibe. The tempo of the song itself is very upbeat, and it makes it one of those songs that will remind you of summer days which is why the desert and beach settings are quite fitting for the video.
After watching this video multiple times, I could not think of any better way to do it. The video is amusing, captivating, and represents the song to the best of its ability, which is everything that a well thought out video should embody!

You may have already heard of the talented quartet My Brothers And I from their many features on popular TV shows such as ‘Pretty Little Liars’ which featured one of their well known songs ‘Nowhere To Run’. Their music has also been featured on commercials here and there, which helped the band get to the successful place they are at now. This quartet is made up of very talented artists including: Jordan Roach, David Wurgler, Scott Wurgler, and Erik Wurgler. These four have recently released their new EP Heartbeat today, August 17th! One of the reasons this quartet is so successful, is because they include aspects of many different genres. In their new EP Heartbeat, you can hear the likes of pop music with a blend of indie and alternative styles. Primarily in the songs ‘When You’re Ready’ and ‘My Heart’, you will hear many vocal similarities between My Brothers And I and fellow pop artist Troye Sivan. When comparing all of their other songs, ‘Temporary Love’ is one of the more darker tracks on the EP that includes more of an upbeat alternative style. With this EP, it is impossible to pick just one favorite song. Each track is completely different, but equally as great as the next. Just from the first listen, I can already that this EP will be on repeat everywhere around the world!
