the old pink house, “jaded”

Synth pop act The Old Pink House – comprised of Max Middleton, Harry Smith, James Grant, and Christopher Brown – is getting ready to take over the summer with their new music.  The Old Pink House takes it back to the 80s with their latest track “Jaded”, which is a mixture of guitar and bass, as well as vocals that are easy to listen to. The track talks about the things people go through in life, the things that people go through that often wear them down and make them feel trapped in a never ending cycle.

After a sell-out at last October’s headline show at Think Tank in Newcastle, The Old Pink House has announced an even bigger show at The Cluny this August. As well as this, there are upcoming slots at their hometown’s Hit the North Festival and the renowned Live at Leeds Festival.

kate faust, “trouble”

Stunning. Beautiful. Haunting. Very few words perfectly describe the new video released for Kate Faust’s stunning new single, “Trouble.” As the scene opens, Faust is buried in a cape of darkness that intensifies the mood so wonderfully outlined by the drawn out instrumental loops. Vocally speaking, even the bone chilling beauty of Faust’s tone and timbre instantly creates an edgy atmosphere this is pure perfection. Choreographed down to the last second, every frame is infused with muted colors that are placed in stunning contrast with a sudden streak of yellow lights that morph and shift over the face of this incredible new artist. One of the greatest aspects of this debut is the organic beauty that is completely exposed and is not overwhelmed by complicated or loud instrumental loops.

Like slowly drifting deeper and deeper into a dark pool, listeners will find themselevs drifting into a stupor as their focus turns completely to the musical genius of, “Trouble.” Throughout the video, fans will come to learn that beauty can be found in darkness as Fausts incredible features are masked by the opaque fog and looming shadows. Without a doubt, Faust has proven once again that she has the vocal power and artistic ability to continue to grow and create music that has longterm staying power among her fans.

Kicking off the new year with a brand new release that is full of artistic music content is electro-pop artist Lillian Frances and her newest single, “Phone Keys Wallet.” This is just a small piece of an even greater work that Frances has in the works that was released on May 4, 2018, however, this particular track highlights everything that has fans raving over this young, but talented, artist. Unlike many of the songs that are now flooding the music platforms around the world, this track has the emotional depth and lush soundscapes that leave listeners eager to hear more.

The emotional origins of this lyrical masterpiece are deeply rooted in an experience that Frances encountered after spending time away from her passion as a musician. In her own words she explains:

This song is about the parts of us we lose. For me, that was getting tendonitis and having to put down my guitar. An acoustic amputation, the loss of a limb. A year after putting down my guitar, when I was just about healed, I was encouraged by an audience of new friends and strangers to play some songs on my guitar. I took my place in front of everyone, and my fingers settled into a familiar G. But the next chord never came. I couldn’t remember a single song I’d written. Smiling faces looked up at me, telling me I could do it. But really, I could not. The words were all gone. Finally, I sat back down, startled.

Obviously, much time has passed and the old expectations have been far exceeded as Frances continues to produce music that is both moving and electric.

ok sweetheart, “far away”

OK Sweetheart – the absolutely gorgeous musical project by multitalented musician Erin Austin – has seen its fair share of studios, stages, and massive work ethic. Having lived in New York and Oklahoma, and bringing work on the project toSeattle, New York, Denton, San Francisco, Tulsa, Clinton, Oriskany, has allowed it to grow and flourish, its influences expanding along the way. Now, the latest single from OK Sweetheart – a soft, inspiring track called “Far Away” – is ready for the world, and we’ve got it right here.

“Far Away” begs the question: What would you do if you got the chance to start over? in not so many words. As Austin’s delicate, transformative vocals almost float over the instrumentals, she sings of leaving what she knows. At some point, we all feel that way. And this season – the season of spring, which breeds new graduates, warmer weather, travel time – is the perfect time to debut such a relevant and blissful track.

“Shake Baby” is one of the newest singles from Katie Toupin, a track found on her upcoming EP Moroccan Ballroom. The track has a rock sound to it with an overlay of guitar that will have you jumping up and down, vibing to Toupin’s strong vocals.

In the video for the song, Katie Toupin is seen walking in the city to get to a destination. The singer walks through the city and later takes a subway getting to where her performance is. We may or may not have it on repeat. Right now.

With production value that rivals well established artists and vocals smooth like agave nectar (“honey” was overused), New York-based electro pop duo REFS have a new track that will set the tone for an amazingly relaxing week. “Roots” combines our love of catchy and unique percussion and a warm bed of incredibly styled lyricism to make us believe in artistry again, if we’re being completely honest.

If you haven’t quite peeped the track, now is the time. We anticipate an insanely fruitful career for these two is just on the horizon.

scott quinn releases emotional track “run”

scott quinn releases emotional track “run”

Singer and instrumentalist Scott Quinn tugs at heartstrings in his latest single “Run”. The song is relatable to anyone that has had someone cut them out of their life, and talks about watching someone move on without them. “Run” is a song for healing when someone has left you. The song is heart-wrenching, but at the same time teaches the listener to let go of the old in order to let the new in. The track s a teaching moment that you can love someone unconditionally and still want the best for them, even if that plan doesn’t necessarily include you.
