Alternative indie rock music project The March Divide – from brainchild Jared Putnam – has a million tour dates ahead of him, but that didn’t stop him from releasing the brand new animated music video for the single “To All My Friends”. The song itself feels like a feel-good 90s indie pop track-meets-alt-rock/pop track from the oughts, and the visuals are brilliant and eye opening, to say the least. Explains Jared of the work:
I reached out to director and animator, Harold Loeffler-Bell, to do some videos for songs from my new album ‘Anticipation Pops.’ Harry really has a way of communicating the songs, in a simple and completely accurate way. Being shielded, while everything is falling down around you, perfectly explains the attitude and emotion of the trilogy of animated videos he created for the songs ‘I Don’t Care,’ ‘Overexposure,’ and now, ‘To All My Friends.’ Sometimes we need some help from our friends, to make it through.
We are lucky enough to be hosting the exclusive premiere of the video, so get your peepers on the work below!

Slow and steady, MAY plays with dissonance in a clear and beautiful way with new track “Baby Save Me Tonight”. A lead up to her upcoming EP, which is born from her musical stylings developed and performed in and around Brooklyn. Her raspy, robust vocals are an aspect of note, lining her up in a category with songstresses such as Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse. Admits MAY of the track:
There is a beautifully devout sense of longing in Baby Save Me Tonight, met with an honest, but tongue-in-cheek kind of cynicism. For me it is cathartic and sentimental to perform in many ways and I love how it feels like conversations I had whilst writing it in the heart of Montreal in the fall last year.

Los Angeles-based indie soul musician Tatiana Woods boasts a sound all her own, riddled with gorgeous, theatrical quirks. Her incredible vocals are captivating as they tell us story after story, a fact that we find to be no different with the release of her new single “Darling”.
Says Woods of the song:
“Darling” embodies the Goddess in each of us. She characterizes the song as “perfection-in the sun sparkling in the ocean, the rhythm of the push and pull of the waves, and the cool breeze whispering by. Step into this world, free of fear and worry and open yourself up to every possibility. I couldn’t be more ecstatic to share this single with everyone. My producer Scorz and I put a lot of sweat and tears into making this a really great track! Every time we worked on this song in the studio, I left in a fantastic mood and was flying high. This song just emanates positivity, confidence, and good vibes and I want to share those vibes!!
Blessed enough to host the exclusive premiere, we may have set this song on repeat to bring a more buoyant attitude to the office today. So – while you prep for your weekend shenanigans and to bask in the last glorious days of summer – consider Tatiana Woods as your soundtrack.

Baltimore-based experimental hip hop collective Soul Cannon – comprised of Eze Jackson (vocals), Matt Frazao (guitars/electronics), Jon Birkholz (keys/electronics), and Charles Wilson (drums) – recently released the lead single from their upcoming album, a track titled “Test Drive”. The song is very similar to its name, as it addresses many important topics and seems to put them each through their own “test drive”. The vocal delivery is absolutely beautiful, the song itself breeding a mid-tempo elegance that will get you right in the gut, delivering a smooth blend of hip hop and jazz. Check it out below!

Nashville-based indie rock outfit Jon Reynolds & The Aches releases a new track this week called “Tomorrow’s News”, and we’ve got your exclusive premiere. The second single in their three track lead up to their EP in early 2019, “Tomorrow’s News” exists at a moderate clip, really drawing the listener in to its country vibes. At first listen, hints of The Eagles are palpable. Admits Reynolds of the meaning behind the track:
After the November 2016 elections wrapped up, I felt a deep need and responsibility to contribute what I could to what I can only describe as a cultural civil war. On an even more personal level, I promised myself 4 years ago, when I first moved to Nashville, that I would make music I believed in: music that I was passionate about personally. There are few things more motivating than seeing a man who openly discussed sexual assault get elected president of the United States. I wake up feeling very anxious about the next nonsensical statement or action I’m going to read in my morning news- I put that feeling into this song.
Allow yourself to get enveloped in a beautiful expression of frustration with our current world. This song is a beautiful conversation starter, and the exact sound you need on an early autumn evening.

On Thursday, September 13th, Rooney took the stage at recordBar to start the second half of their “A Cosmic Interlude” tour. Last year, Schwartzman promised an eager crowd – they played recordBar for the first date of that tour as well – that they would continue to come back each year with new music. He seems to be holding up on that promise. In fact, on the 13th, he told the crowd he enjoyed starting things off in Kansas City, and wants to come back to recordBar next year to kick things off again. We would totally understand if his crazy schedule didn’t permit that – the man just got back from signing a distribution deal for his latest full-length feature, The Unicorn.
Rooney was joined by Toughies and Mating Ritual, both of whom will have photos up this week! Get a glimpse into Rooney’s headlining set below.

17-year-old musician Akine is gaining traction, now with her new track “Money In Your Mouth”, where she brings us an incredibly vulnerable side of herself. The intense lyrics paint a picture that will leave a bad taste in your mouth on behalf of Akine – or, the protagonist in the song -, but the vocals themselves are simultaneously edgy and smooth. The song is light enough to feel perfect for an autumn get together, bundled in hoodies and rocking vintage boots.
