Savi Minds is the stuff of dreams. Literally, he’s bringing us “Dreaming” today. Just as the name implies, this brand new single is a sonic paradise that provides a getaway while you’re listening to it. Floating, moving, and filled with an ethereal sound, “Dreaming” will take your soul to new heights. Savi Minds (irl New Jersey native Mikale D’Andrea) is currently based in Los Angeles.
Says Mikale of his track: “’Dreaming’ is a powerful, down-tempo, and reverb drenched trip of a song; best experienced driving with the windows down.” He couldn’t be more correct. “Dreaming” is not only a joyride for the senses, but it also highlights his songwriting skills, with lines like “There’s endless music in my ears/my words are gone/I’m blissful in sound”. Every aspect of the song makes for an enjoyable listen. Nothing amazing is ever easy, and this track was not exception; it took plenty of time and hard work. Referencing the time he spent in creating “Dreaming”, Mikale says,
When I’m really deep in a song, I sometimes lock myself in my room for days or weeks, really neglecting other parts of my life. It’s easy to view the windows of my bedroom as the borders of my own world. Sometimes it’s a blissful experience to be in my own head, but it can be very lonely.
What are you waiting for? Treat your ears to “Dreaming”.
Don Gallardo has just dropped a brand new track, “Oh Jane”, which will appear on his upcoming record, Still Here. Gallardo says of the single, “The narrator is in love with the person being bullied and comes to her side and suggests different ways to look at the situation with a positive manner.” Moving along an easy-going folk soundscape, Gallardo elicits feelings of sympathy and shared experience with this track. Highlighting carefully crafted instrumentation and lyricism, “Oh Jane” is anything but just another folk song. Gallardo clearly knows his sound, which is further honed in his forthcoming album.
Besides his own talented songwriting and vocals, Gallardo was accompanied by other skilled musicians to bring “Oh Jane” to life.
He says of the track:
We had Dave Roe and Bryan Owings lay down the foundation of drums and bass before we built on it. I tried numerous ideas for the guitar sound, but after sitting with Brent Mason I thought it would be nice to steer away from a country feel to a more folk-rock vibe. This song features Brent Mason on guitar. He has played with numerous performers such as Vince Gill, Chet Atkins, George Strait, Brad Paisley, and tons more. The song also features Joe Andrews from Old Crow Medicine Show on mandolin and Micah Hulscher from Margo Price band on organ. Travis Stock, Clint Maine, and I worked out the backing vocals for a few days before we recorded them. We wanted a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers vibe for the background vocals.
Still Here will be released April 27, 2018. Stay connected with Don Gallardo: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram |
Los Angeles’ Jean Dawson has just dropped his debut single, “Glacier Gallery”, in collaboration with producer/songwriter Lecx Stacy. Out via Kitsune, a French electronic label, Jean Dawson brings a moody, electronic edge to a hip-hop soundscape in “Glacial Gallery”. Crafting a mulit-genre sound, Dawson will drop his debut album this summer after several years of honing his sound with Lecx Stacy. The twenty-two year old artist has been making music since he was fourteen, and now, Dawson is ready to share his songs with the world. “Glacier Gallery” is just a first taste of what is to come – and it’s already very promising. As an experimental hip-hop artist, Dawson draws just the right amount from other genres to create the canvas on which “Glacier Gallery” is painted.
Says Dawson of his debut track, “I suppose in making ‘Glacier Gallery’ I was seeking a form of catharsis. When myself and Lecx sat down drafting up ideas for the most fitting amalgamation of deep house tones and sharp synths, I figured that I wanted the context of this record to fit my somewhat discontent disposition at the time. I always find myself talking about warmth in my records but for whatever reason I felt that warmth wasn’t good enough. I needed something strong and fragile like glaciers under the sun.”
If you’re looking for something entirely new in all the right ways, check out “Glacier Gallery” today.
Black Moon Tape has just dropped their new video for “Reset”. Since 2016, the Belgian duo, made up of Will Z. and drummer Pierre Vancraenenbroeck, has been piecing together years of unfinished projects and unreleased concepts that Will Z. worked on as a teenager in the 90’s. The result was The Salvation of Morgane, the band’s debut album, which dropped in 2017, re-released in 2018 with more tracks, and an EP, Reset. Will Z. has previously been a part of Cosmic Trip Machine, as well as working as a solo artist, and is now joined by drummer Vancraenenbroeck to create Black Moon Tape. Though a Belgian band, Will Z. sings in English, and draws from a variety of genres to create Black Moon Tape’s own melding of psychedelic rock.
The pair now drops the video for “Reset”, created out of pixel art, taking the viewer on a psychedelic journey that explores the stress and pressure put on music to put out numbers in today’s world.
San Diego/L.A. based two-piece Inspired & the Sleep has just dropped a brand new track called “First Time”. Inspired & the Sleep is made up of Max Greenhalgh (producer/singer-songwriter) and musician Bryce Outcault, accompanied by additional artists at times. Having just released a new song, Inspired & the Sleep looks to propel themselves into their musical future with a refined sound.
The band says of their new track:
“First Time” is a song I wrote at the start of a relationship. The song is about the very first time a couple catches themselves opening up to each other. I feel like when you’re alone for an extended period you tend to naturally become guarded just as a way of protecting yourself, but it takes even more strength to get to a point where you can let yourself love again. There are certain events that I recall in my life that have led me to where I am in life. “First Time” recollects an event where my ex got a DUI while I was in the car with her. Even though it was tragic event, it did end up bringing us closer together at the time.
The new track moves the listener across a floating soundscape anchored in a solid beat and highlighted by Greenhalgh’s vocals. Both vulnerable and strong, the track clearly displays the band’s ability to show a gentle side that is also confident. “First Time” is not a track to miss, so check it out today.
Need a new love song to vibe to? Jackson Penn’s “Babylon” has got you covered. New York based producer and songwriter Jackson Penn’s single, “Babylon” is the upcoming new track from the producer-turned-singer.
Penn (aka Freddy Waxler) has written for and worked with Selena Gomez, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Kanye West, Vic Mensa and the likes, and has just started releasing music of his own. “Babylon”, a mellow, emotion-filled love song follows Penn’s debut single, “Streetlights on Mars”, which was well received on Spotify. After working with some big names in music, Penn is ready to share his own songs with the world, and we’re here for it. With lines like “I’d do anything to see you again”, Penn plucks heartstrings with every word. We have no doubt that Penn will be making a big name for himself, as he has for other artists.
Seattle based duo Prize the Wild have just released their debut track, “Go Nowhere”. Prize the Wild is made up of Ben Litwin and Eli Mueller, who met in Boulder, Colorado in 2014 and are now based in Seattle. The pair brings an organic element to electro pop, bringing in trumpet and a lively beat to a sprawling soundscape that is both diverse and concise. “Go Nowhere” is only a first taste of what Prize the Wild can do; their debut EP is coming soon, and looks to follow the same authenticity that “Go Nowhere” possesses.
In a world of increasingly mixed-genre music and interconnected sounds, Prize the Wild has clearly found their niche. Appealing to a variety of listeners, “Go Nowhere” includes both indie-rock aspects and a tinge of electronica. Whatever side of electro-rock-pop you’re looking for, Prize the Wild has got you covered. Their song may be called “Go Nowhere”, but Prize the Wild is certainly going somewhere, and we can’t wait to see where their musical journey takes them.
Brooding, cinematic and filled with movement, “VHS #2: Masks” is here. Philadelphia based four-piece Sixteen Jackies have just dropped this brand new track, a song that heralds the coming of their Movie Was Bad & Mascula double EP being released on a 12” record in May. The track will appear on the Mascula side and references the classic horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Nodding to the dimensions of personality in the movie, “VHS #2: Masks” takes on many angles and forms as well. Sixteen Jackies is delightfully different, and anyone looking for a slightly off-kilter track will not be disappointed.
Sixteen Jackies is comprised of vocals and guitar by Joey DeMarco, guitarist/keyboardist Jeremiah Bull, Ian Staley on drums and keys, and bassist Tim Davis. Where some bands try to be different in all the wrong ways, Sixteen Jackies nails it, owns it, and maintains authenticity. “VHS #2: Masks” is the result of a band knowing their sound and vision, as well as being able to clearly communicate it. This track is not one to miss.
