Today, we sit down with Nate Sirotta. He is the founder of – and digital publicist at – Impulse Artists, a boutique digital marketing and publicity agency based in Portland and Los Angeles. Since he lives in the Pacific Northwest, I tried to talk Sasquatch. But it was more fun catching up and delving into his work, to be honest.
On Friday, May 3rd, The Japanese House entertained a wall-to-wall sold out crowd at Riot Room. Opening for them – Art School Girlfriend – came before them calm, cool, and collected, and really set a gorgeous tone for the performance. Check out some of our favorites from the show below!
In the mood for a beautifully composed track that carries you on a very interesting plot line in its new accompanying music video? Jake Waitzman’s project Jaco has just released the new video for his song “Blackboard”, and the black and white video is wild, to say the least. Take yourself on a bit of an escapist’s journey below, and let us know what you think on Facebook!
We made this playlist thinking about what inspired us during the album production time or simply what we listened too and maybe indirectly inspired us. The result, is that we actually and apparently listened to different kind music from different style and different historical period. Most part of the music is rock or came from rock, another part is electronic or contaminated by it , for example, we enjoyed some classic song from icons like Rolling Stones, but we have been impressed by some young and fresh artists like Tom Vek. We jumped from the “Dark Country” of the Builders and the Butchers to the Industrial sound of Ministry, or from the City And Colour melancholy to the energy of the English Architects!
Anyhow, we personally don’t think that there is a huge gap among those 48 songs , they have something in common and I challenge you to find this point. Maybe is a matter of frequency or just the mood or maybe all of them have the same roots, you can find it or maybe just listen to the playlist and have fun jumping from a romantic acoustic sound to an extreme electronic metal.
On Wednesday, May 1st, we celebrated May Day with Jai Wolf at the Truman in Kansas City, MO. The room was decked out with humans from wall to wall dressed in their EDM best. We have a few photos to share the kaleidoscope of a night with you!
Today, indie-electro duo Ideomotor releases a brilliant new video for their song “One Last Time”, and we have the exclusive premiere available right here! It all begins with a text, igniting a fire in the watcher’s belly about the importance of launching a music video for the new release. Stress almost seems to consume them as they ponder the release. The way to get out of their heads involves a night out, and a beautifully shot music video drenched in deviance and a really good time. Explains director Vesa Salmi:
We did a run and gun production with a hand held camera without much crew or time for that matter. In a lot of occasions we just had to make use of the available light as we didn’t want to compromise the aim of getting the best shots amid the restraints. We wanted to capture authentic moments and at times the guys did not even know that I was shooting. I wanted to portray the band in a natural setting where living in different countries poses everyday problems that they regularly seem to overcome with a solid all for one effort that clearly brings joy to them and their listeners.
Sometimes to get out of your head, you’ve got to let loose. It’s time to let loose with Ideomotor.
Last Friday, soulful songstress Emily Chambers debuted her new track “Real Talk”, and we’re absolutely smitten. The lyrics are highly-relatable – I mean, we have all been in relationships we didn’t anticipate – and so stunningly delivered that this is hands-down one of our favorite spring releases. While she croons about that no-good feeling of confusion, we get a look into her ferocity with edgy instrumentals and attitude to match.
Atlanta-based foul/soul collective Rising Appalachians – comprised of Leah Song, Chloe Smith, Biko Casini, and David Brown – releases their new twelve track album Leylines today, and we’re overjoyed with the sonic adventure it leads its listeners on. From the first, caressing lines of “I Believe in Being Ready”, the album feels alive. The vocal layers are absolutely exquisite, and we’re blown away to see the ferocity with which said vocals lead the album as a whole. Working with talents such as Ani Difranco (“Speak Out”), Trevor Hall (“Shed Your Grace”), and Maurice Turner (“Indigo Dance”), Rising Appalachians has found a way to bring in distinctive traits from each act and meld it into a sound all its own.
“Make Magic” and “Sassafras” are two of our personal favorites on the release, and their contrasting sounds are the perfect display of how robust the talent found in this four piece truly is. Take the album for a spin below, and let us know what tickles your fancy!
On Monday, April 29th – just days after the release of their new album Real Life – brother duo Cayucas made a phenomenal appearance at recordBar in Kansas City, MO. They were joined by Cape Francis, which was also an incredible delight. In all sincerity, it’s a little more difficult to get a midwestern out of the house on a Monday night. Especially when the weather has been gloomy. But Cayucas is the band you show up for, as you’ll never quite understand how impressive they are without witnessing them live.
