Asheville-based neo-indie/folk artist Corey Parlamento is Livingdog, and he is living proof that talent is still alive and well in the music industry. His new video for single “Creation. Stagnation.” is depicted exactly how the mellifluous music would insinuate, comprised of footage as Parlamento drives around town at night. Storefronts, homes, street lights. All of the small, beautiful things that seem to be underappreciated. They make up the community, they tell their own stories. The video is sweet in its simplicity, the music the perfect backdrop to a night drive.

Oozing with understated flow and serene melodies is Ruben Pol’s “Meet Again.” We first encountered the Dutch high fashion model and musician with his debut “Bedsheets,” which saw widespread critical acclaim. Now he is back to deliver more, and again dazzles.
With production taken care of by respected dance producer Tom Martin, Ruben Pol is left to inject “Meet Again” with his brooding, straight from the soul appeal. Discussing the message behind it, Pol says of this magnetic cut: “Meet Again’ is about a broken relationship and it reflects on the enormous value it still has to me. No matter how much suffering has taken place or how much pain has been done, I’m sure that in the end ‘we’ll meet again’.”

Continuing a steady stream of releases this week is Absent Mind, a label that focuses on chilled, lightly electronic sounds. We’ve enjoyed everything they’ve put on offer this year, and their latest is another example of this. “Just Friends” comes courtesy of Unlovable, an act that we know very little about.
This track shimmers with clean melodic flow and some oozing vocals; a musical match made in heaven. This one is ideal for winding down for the weekend with, and it’s had several rotations from us already.

Yesterday, Brooklyn-based musician Pearla released two refreshing new tracks, “Forgive Yourself” and “Pumpkin”. The former vocalizes the need to allow yourself some space to acknowledge that you are not perfect, and that that’s OK. Explains Pearla, “I wrote ‘Forgive Yourself’ while sitting in my backyard, trying to meditate but failing because a bee kept flying around my face. I got frustrated with myself that I couldn’t stop reacting to the bee. This song is about all of those little knee-jerk reactions. It’s about accepting them, and not faulting yourself for simply… being human.” The release of this song is integral to this month’s theme of mental health awareness.
Before we even push play on “Pumpkin”, we’re smiling at the perfect timing of the release of that single as well. (Anyone else craving it?) The sound is perfectly autumn, Pearla’s lyrics painting a picture of the perfect setting during this time of year, her vocals wrapping their listener in warmth.
Both songs are sonic dreams. Check them out below, and be sure to add them to your fall soundtrack!

Madison brings the heavy, badass vibes with new track “Work It”. A track about female empowerment, this song really does induce a powerful feeling, deep, raspy vocals and a quick staccato to each word. The heavy guitar really makes this feel like a runway track, and we’re all over that feeling. Blast this while prepping for Halloween and all of the spectacular autumn adventures you’re about to go on!

There is a new gem out for release via Stockholm label Snafu Records. It’s the latest single from San Diego singer/songwriter Brooke Williams, who delights with “High & Bye.” Responsible for the hugely successful “Adrenaline” and “Nightmare,” Williams again makes a very honest record with this release.
She says: “High & Bye’ is about a night when you just want to forget about life and chill with someone. I was getting over old feelings and had sworn off any new ones. This song was my way of saying that to this person.”
its distinctive use of piano and rippling vocals are hard to ignore – we’re hitting repeat on “High & Bye” now.

We’re soaking up the sounds of power duo Vargas & Lagola this week. With a fresh single just out, it’s refreshing to see the pair take a new direction with their style of production. Taking a move away from traditional dance music and venturing into the acoustic scene, they deliver “Selfish.”
Without losing any of their previous appeal, Vargas & Lagola have created the searching “Selfish” with 80s synths, nostalgic (almost Fleetwood Mac-esque) guitar riffs and a singalong chorus. Just one listen is all it takes to get hooked on this one.

London-based experimental artist Lua Sonique is bringing the 80’s vibes with new track “Leave”. With twinkling synth sounds layered in to an indie rock facade, we’re catching bites of energy that would be easily placed in a John Hughes film. So don’t “Leave” quite yet, just play the track and get dancing with your high tops and a fun, carefree fall feeling!
