Brooklyn-based quintet Kleptokrat – comprised of Alex Carter, Walker Esner, Graham Galatro, Danilo Randjic-Coleman, and Teagan Taylor – is ready to slow it down for us all, releasing their brand new anthem “The View at Bethlehem” today. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of the slow, intricately-layered soundscape, which utilizes the lyrics to encourage us all to “make it through.” The song plays a balance between the positive and negative, but with the aid of the magnetic vocals, we are drawn to believe in ourselves throughout the duration. And I don’t know about you, but I’d like a whole lot more of that in my life.

Over the next few weeks, we will be expecting a few new tracks from alt/rock/punk project A Day Without Love (Brian Walker). Today, we’ve got his latest track “FASHIT” featuring Bartees Strange. With the most rock-worthy guitar, this song is approached with finesse and a bit of reverb to really make it feel hard and fast, when truly the pace is pretty easy-going. The energy in the track lifts and lowers with such subtlety, that it will leave you on a high long after it ends.

Today, Leeds-based Nubiyan Twist – made up of Tom Excell, Nubiya Brandon, Pilo Adami, Finn Booth, Luke Wynter, and Oli Cadman with a horn section comprised of Joe Henwood, Denis Scully, Nick Richards, and Jonny Enser – celebrates the release of their new album Jungle Run. We’re huge fans of the release in its entirety – the 10 track collection is driven by interesting and robust soundscapes that somehow invoke a sense of freedom and happiness across the board.
With twelve band members, you’d think Nubiyan Twist might take issue with regards to lead vocals and areas to focus on in each song, but they took time and thought to rotate through their collection of phenomenal and fun vocalists. Each track has is pure bliss, layered with precision and finesse, work that makes us excited to delve further into its layers with each spin.
We’re huge fans of seventh track “Permission”, which features the vocals of Nubiya Brandon and essentially brings a whole party with it. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Check the track out below, and then listen to the entire album if you’ve got time. Very interested in hearing which track is your new fav!

Last week, our favorite SoCal brother duo Mating Ritual recently released their latest single “Falling Back”, an easy going track that . The accompanying music video – which was released at the same time – is this quirky, enjoyable gem of a video. Between shots singing in the dark, surrounded by smoke with colorful backlighting lies the open display of life as a driver (Uber, Lyft, a taxi, or what have you) and all of the monotonous, ridiculous, and entertaining moments that accompany it.

Has anyone else felt a little ruffled throughout the new year so far? 2019 has been pretty thrilling, and pretty unexpected in several ways. Well, we haven’t found a track yet this year that captures that feeling quite as poetically as Kathleen‘s “The Longest Year”. Theatrical in its disposition, the song perfectly displays the artist’s emotion-driving vocals, and we’re hooked.

Beginning with a little tongue in cheek dialogue, Anja Kotar‘s single “Kids” is infectious and honest, its accompanying music video no different. As the artist parades around in candy colored outfits, rocking each of them with a confidence that addresses the self love aspect of the track better than any other visual could. This is one of our new favs, and you’re going to want to check it out.

Megan Rooney and Jeffrey Albert project their emotionally vibrant lyricism into the ether with the latest single, “Waves”, from their musical project Spectator. As Albert implores the object of his affection to take him “on a ride on the other side of [their] mind,” you begin to realize how vastly similar significant others and relationships can be to waves in an ocean. At times, relaxing and glowing. At others, turbulent and exciting. Either way, we’re on board with the track and think you will be too!

Brooklyn-based “timid rock” trio Waterfall Strainer really defines that genre, their new single “Please Don’t Please Me” further representation of that truth. Even better news? We’ve got the exclusive premiere right here. With glittering reverb, the song has touches of 80s flare, slow and vulnerable. I can’t imagine not slow dancing to it somehow, and you might agree.
