frances quinlan, “your reply”

frances quinlan, “your reply”

If your eardrums have ever been blessed by the magnetic vocals of Frances Quinlan, you’d best prepare yourself. With her new track “Your Reply”, the listener experiences a palpable energy, each note specifically belonging to its originator, the cadence with which she expresses herself intense and, in this case, fun. While a bed of instruments accompanies her voice, they come as almost an afterthought, not to discredit the talent.

To both understand where we’re coming from and head into your day with a pep in your step sonically, check out “Your Reply” below!

Likewise is out January 31st. Keep up with Frances Quinlan here.

neon dreams, “turn back now”

neon dreams, “turn back now”

Halifax-based pop duo Neon Dreams truly creates music straight from your dreams. There is no exception with their latest single “Turn Back Now” and its accompanying music video, which premiered this week with Billboard. The song was inspired by Kadillac’s experience with the power of positive thinking, and the composition of the track would indicate it is meant to be a bit of an uplifting anthem. Definitely a summertime sounding piece, it gets us revved up for the new year.

Visually clean and fun, pops of color and set design integral in the video’s existence. Giving us a glimpse into the performance tactics of these two, we’re pretty thrilled to see more tour dates down the road!

Upgrade your leisurely roll into 2020 with the perfect soundtrack. Los Angeles-based quartet NO WIN‘s new track “Same” seems like it could do the trick. It’s soothing in a way, and we’re thrilled to have our ears on it.

oh wonder, “happy”

oh wonder, “happy”

Magnetic musical duo Oh Wonder began 2020 on the right foot, with the release of new single “Happy”. We can’t tell you how ecstatic we are that there is another song called “Happy” that won’t complete annoy us. (Sorry, Pharrell, we still love you.) Sticky sweet, a bit seductive, and totally light as a feather, this song is actually a testament to the strength it takes to see someone after your love has fizzled out. In this circumstance, some time has passed, and there has been room to grow and forgive and accept. The line of the chorus that has us weak in the knees exclaims, “Oh, I never thought I’d be happy to see you with somebody new.”

Beauty in acceptance. We’re going to go ahead and get on board.

nadia vaeh, “holidazed & confused”

nadia vaeh, “holidazed & confused”

It’s the holidays, so we’re all thinking about family and togetherness. (For the most part… and we understand the aversion as well, perhaps, sometimes.) And sometimes — if we’re being honest — the holidays make it way more difficult for people to keep their shit together, for lack of better terminology. When you’ve experienced heartbreak, loss, tough times… this time of year can be heavy.

Nadia Vaeh is feeling lonely in new track “Holidazed & Confused”. The cheery soundscape is magical and deceptive, as Nadia sings of the emotional torture of missing someone important during the holidays like a pop queen.

alec baker, “lava pool”

alec baker, “lava pool”

If you’re looking for a tranquil soundscape, decorated with smooth, Swedish vocals, then Alec Baker‘s “Lava Pool” is next to throw on your short list. (Or just trust us and add it to your “vibes” playlist for the season.) And if you’ve ever been in a situation where you lose track of time because you’re so enveloped in conversation and revelry, or the eyes of another, then this song will speak to you in ways indescribable.

Pop this on and get lost in that winter love.
