A little after 2:40pm PST, talented songstress Jenny March graced our screens for Cancelled Plans Music Fest 2020. We know she was itching to play more, and we are still dying to see more… perhaps she will be willing to partner with us on a future project? 😉
Until then, here is her angelic voice! And feel free to tip her here.
We were joined by an artist with the most extraordinary – and borderline believable – backdrop. Sam Himself allowed us all a little space to pretend we were deep breathing in the mountains. The music wasn’t too bad, either. If you like what you hear, as always, please consider donating!
**Apologies for the modest screen shots that were taken as the cover photos for these features. We did what we could with what we had.
Nicole Kiki Jaffe was one of the celebrated artists who donned our “stage” during the Cancelled Plans Music Fest on April 17th, 2020. Celebrate her set below, and feel free to donate to her virtual tip jar if you love what you see and hear as much as we did!
(Yes, we did screen cap the main photo. This one – though blurry – is so delightful, we couldn’t resist!)
Apologies if the headline of this photo set made you think we had a round 2 duet featuring Hozier and Brandi Carlile a la Bonnaroo 2019 at Hinterland Music Festival this year. Our photographers were roaming the grounds a little more and captured these two performances from the crowd, so there are a few less angles to share with you. But the lighting and the audience have truly captured the mood on this, a truly intimate experience at a very large music festival.
Technical difficulties didn’t keep Ruston Kelly from playing a fantastic set on Sunday of the Hinterland Music Festival. After a brief delay to the start of the show, Ruston quickly turned the mood around and got the crowd moving with his energetic brand of Americana.
It’s wonderful what some fresh air can do for you. We caught up with mxtmoon at Outside Lands festival for a few quick portrait shots, and found this fun little backdrop on the perimeter of the polo field. How fun to duck into some trees and feel like you’re the only ones in the field! (Aside from Mavis Staples singing and preaching to the masses in the background. What an incredible weekend!)
It had been seven years since we last witnessed Santigold, absolutely captivating the crowd at Stephest Colbchella 2012. At Outside Lands 2019, she didn’t cease to amaze. Her style, her perfectly coiffed (and straight faced ) dancers, and that incredible voice. Saturday afternoon on the polo field was epic.
The Dead South wrapped up their US tour with an appearance at Hinterland Music Festival, playing a raucous set in front of an enthusiastic afternoon crowd. The folk-bluegrass band from Saskatchewan put their exceptional musicianship and infectious energy on display. The set included songs spanning the band’s entire catalog, including the newly released “Diamond Rings” from their upcoming album “Sugar and Joy” to be released October 11.
Last weekend was absolutely gorgeous. We know a thing or two, because members of our team spent an entire three days outside, basking under the sun and the stars with other fabulous humans at Hinterland Music Festival in Iowa. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Chicago, this fest actually boasted a slew of great acts on the Lolla ’19 lineup, in a much more tranquil and relaxed setting. Take a deep dive over the next few days into galleries from some of our favorite sets, including these photos of The Maytags!
