Lincoln, Nebraska’s Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal played a late show at Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 10. The band, which tours extensively, has won several blues and R&B/soul awards.
The Avey/Grouws Band performed at the Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 10. The band is based out of the Quad Cities and Decorah, Iowa, and was winner of the 2017 Iowa Blues Challenge.
Having just collected three major blues awards, Kevin “B.F.” Burt performed at the Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 10. Burt, of Coralville, Iowa, is the 2018 International Blues Challenge winner for Best Solo/Duo Act, Best Harmonica Player and Best Solo/Duo Guitarist.
The Amanda Fish Band brought roots rock to the Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 10. The Kansas City band was a semi finalist in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Minnesota Blues Challenge Winner Ken Valdez performed at the 2018 Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 10. The New Mexico native was also joined on stage by Kevin “BF” Burt.
New Orleans’ Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind played the Winter Blues Festival in Des Moines on February 9. Ricci, is an award-winning harmonica player who performed on Johnny Winter’s Step Back, which won the 2015 Grammy for Best Blues Album.
St. Louis-based blues rock artist Anthony Gomes played the Winter Blues Fest in Des Moines on February 9, 2018. The Toronto native and 2017 European Blues Awards winner for Best Musician, rocked the crowd with his ripping guitar solos and soulful lyrics.
MoonTaxi rocked The Truman in Kansas City on February 17. It was the band’s final performance before a well-needed break after touring for several months. The resume their tour later in March.
