Today, San Diego’s
the color forty nine – a music group comprised of Phil Beaumont (Vocals & Tiny Guitar), Jason Hooper (Bass and Vocals), John Meeks (Drums and Vocals), and Matt Resovich (Violin, Tenor Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals) – releases a reverb-filled, lush new track titled “I Will”, and we happen to have the exclusive premiere. With the depth in range of Beaumont’s vocals, this track feels as though it has rougher, old country western vibes, sprinkled amidst a subtle modern alternative sound. Its pace and tone feel dark, though it’s certainly in a more robust and beautiful way than is often found with similar soundscapes. “I Will” is void of any coldness we might otherwise feel tempted toward without this particular collection of talent to deliver.
the color forty nine is doing some amazing things with their music, and we can’t wait to see what happens next in the lead up to their new full-length.
Join the band TONIGHT at The Casbah in San Diego with Acid Mothers Temple. It’s going to be absolute insanity. And their upcoming album is due out June 15th, via Darla. Keep your eyes peeled for all of that and more with the color forty nine here.

Indie pop artist Monogem – the entrancing moniker that belongs to singer songwriter Jen Hirsh – recently released the music video for her gorgeous track “Get You High” (featured in our “Ultimate Stoner Playlist“), a luscious and fun visual to tantalize the senses. Smoke, jewel tones, and a bevy of flawless women pose in seductive and wonderful ways, as Monogem dazzles with her immaculate voice. The funny part is, we have always likened some of her delivery to Prince, and this video makes us feel like we’re on our way to a party at the ever-elusive artist’s house (RIP). So, relive that dream and be captivated by Monogem’s latest visual below.

Edinburgh-based alternative collective Hamish Hawk & The New Outfit – comprised of the indellible Hamish Hawk and his cohorts Alex Duthie, Andrew Pearson, John Cashman, and Barry Carty – is releasing the official music video for their track “Nomad” today, and we’re excited to announce that we’ve got the exclusive premiere. Trudging through a murky, guitar-heavy soundscape, we find Hamish’s charming and quirky vocals to be refreshing, holding onto every one of his theatric, beautiful words. The song itself paints quite a vivid picture of very specific instances, though we somehow feel a kinship to Hawk because of it.
And perhaps that kinship is electrified by the music video, which is largely set in front of a black backdrop with a few key props. A warmth to the frame, coupled with vintage items and Hawk’s lush, textured style make for a delicate and beautiful display for the track. Additionally, Hawk’s theatric vocals go head to head with his dancing and elaborate movements. We’re big fans of the video, and a part of us hopes to see him blossom into – not only a more talented songwriter and musician, but – perhaps the composer or star of a musical.
All that said, we think the video is worth a watch. Check it out below!
Keep up with Hamish Hawk:

On April 17th, The Happy Fits made a phenomenal appearance at The Rino in Kansas City. Their original support was sick, so the endlessly talented Jake Wells joined to perform solo before their set. The night was absolute magic, and we have some photos to prove it.

Fresh off the presses, Jaunt‘s new 5-track EP Cue is ready for your waiting ears. Launched on Friday the 13th, there’s nothing spooky about this release, though it does play with dissonance and ambient sounds to bring you into a whole different soundscape than what you might be used to. While first track “Machined” feels like a slight machine interaction – small noises that lend themselves to its overall 70s-inspired feel -,second track “Best Case” continues at a slow tempo, the occasional guitar riff lending itself to a far more groovy sound.
“Intimate Sunset” exists in a soundscape similar to what the title infers. Beachy vibes almost drop from the speakers, and we’re already feeling like we’re on a much needed vacation. “Faster Interactions” is chill, groovy and psychedelic. With the use of a keyboard organ, soft high pitched vocals, and a variety of electronic sounds “Faster Interactions” stays true to its name. The video for “Faster Interactions” also really displays the band’s creativity with a psychedelic feel of fast paced iridescent lights and unexpected visuals.
Of “Faster Interactions” Jaunt says:
“Faster Interactions” is probably our zaniest track to date! It was one of the first written for Cue, but also took the longest to complete. We quickly knew that it would be a single, and playing it repeatedly live has helped us finesse it’s nuances. Caitlin and Eliza really helped bring a new energy and dynamic, ultimately making the song more joyous. We’re also trying very hard to bring back the sound of cheap keyboard orchestra hits in pop music.
They round out the magic with “Cued”, a slower track with more of a vibey, enchanting sound to it all. It’s the perfect bookend to what we have just experienced, and we’re enthralled enough to hear more.
Keep up with Jaunt here.

Self-proclaimed indie “space” rock duo Neverthere – comprised of Andrew Sclafani and Robert Ragosta – is hitting the ground running with the cinematic new music video for their single “Labs”. While raspy vocals encase the listener in this rich, indulgent sound, the video takes you through what looks to be a couple’s pretty insane romantic journey. What pulled the man in? What happened during the course of it all? What are they fighting about? And why did he just wake up on a beach alone?
Figure it all out during the course of the 3:36 video right now!
EP1 is out now. Keep up with Neverthere here. (If they’re ever there. HA!)
