The Centeno’s are more than just a family from New Jersey.  Together, they are rock band The RocknRoll HiFives.  Before fatherhood, Joe Centeno spent his days as a touring musician.  Now he is joined by his daughter Eilee Centeno, his son, and his wife, and their latest single “Hold On” is pretty impressive.

The rock track starts out with sultry female vocals and sounds of very evident guitar, bass and drums.  “Blonde hair, red dress- she got you drooling, you’re such a mess,” the song starts off.  “Hold on, I’ve got something to say to you,” beats the chorus.  Lyrically, “Hold On” is creative and sassy as it tells the tale of a female vixen who literally has a “hold” on you.  “I need another minute with you,” the song muses.  Their debut LP will be out June 29th via Little Dickman Records.

With production value that rivals well established artists and vocals smooth like agave nectar (“honey” was overused), New York-based electro pop duo REFS have a new track that will set the tone for an amazingly relaxing week. “Roots” combines our love of catchy and unique percussion and a warm bed of incredibly styled lyricism to make us believe in artistry again, if we’re being completely honest.

If you haven’t quite peeped the track, now is the time. We anticipate an insanely fruitful career for these two is just on the horizon.

down and outlaws, “imposter”

down and outlaws, “imposter”

In the lead up to the release of their album bad Radio, San Francisco based rock outfit Down and Outlaws – comprised of Peter Danzig, Kyle Luck, Chris Danzig, and Jon Carr – have unleashed a new psychedelic single titled “Imposter” on us. As the first cords hit, the listener becomes enveloped in a thin, silky layer of softly swirling nostalgia. The guitars wane like sepia toned photos are the closest we’ve got to color, back during yet another time when facial hair, middle parted hair, and bell bottoms were popular. (They’re still a thing now, right? No?) Its mellow tone and vocal reverb will make you want to play it on repeat for hours.

So go ahead.

Last week, Milwaukee-based electro-dream pop collective GGOOLLDD – comprised of Margaret Butler, Nick Ziemann, Mark Stewart, and Nick Schubert – released their latest, an upbeat track titled “The Way That I Feel”. Found on their upcoming EP TEETH (out December 1st), this track is a definite party go-to. Beginning with Margaret’s infectious laughter, the drums set a catchy, dance beat to the single while the vocals sound like they’re being delivered through a megaphone. In a way, with lines like “I don’t care”, this song feels like the perfect personal anthem to lead you into the winter season.
