We haven’t really been addressing the pandemic at Imperfect Fifth, mostly because it has flipped every aspect of how we do things on its side. As fun and amazing as some experiences have been, some have been really, very difficult. Like staying inside during the entire month of April. And we know it’s the same for everyone, so venting about it hasn’t really been our shpeal.
The good news is, music doesn’t stop. And artists everywhere have stepped up and continued to offer gorgeous new hooks, beautiful lyrics, and a lot more soul this month. So let’s dive in… to inspiration, to erratic genre hopping and new things to keep our minds both occupied and at ease.
November has been gorgeous, transitional, and… rainy. The new music being created, recorded, and released has run the gamut in emotional content, and has kept us in our feels. We’ve begun to gather some of our favorites in our “November Rain” playlist, inspired by — of course — some well-known lyrical content. Check out some new tracks below, and make sure to come back and visit all month for more new gems!
Stay tuned all month, and be sure to subscribe to our Spotify channel for more!
We all like so many different kinds of music, but this playlist is made up of songs that have influenced us as we grew up and became musicians so you will notice it’s from a general time period, the 90’s. We would’ve loved this playlist as kids, yet we still flip our wigs to every song on it now.
The first of July brings with it a new-found hope. That day is the middle of the year, and marks the 6 month mark until 2020 hits us like a ton of bricks. But we like to take it slow around here, and we’re soaking up every moment we can with new music gems cropping up all month. Check out our soundtrack below for incredible newbies from Shayfer James, Maria Usbeck, Mattia Cupelli, Carriers, Feather Weight, Rager, and more! And don’t forget to check back all month long for new jams!
Alright. You all know what we do around here by now. Mid-month, we release genre-inclusive soundtrack features that are jam packed with new music videos specifically for your viewing pleasure. We know that people exist in the world that curate playlists to evoke a specific emotion, or to bring people back to a specific point in time.
These soundtrack pieces are not specific. These soundtrack pieces will jump from hip hop to indie rock to alternative to gospel and back again, and there’s not much we’re truly willing to do about it. Because, as the month’s cause would suggest, love is love. Music is music.
Bring me everything new, no holds barred!
Check back all month for new music videos throughout the end of June 2019!

New York-based electro-pop artist KYOSi recently curated a lavish, kaleidoscope of a soundtrack feature exclusively for Imperfect Fifth, and we’ve got it for you today! Featuring gems by Kid Cudi, Vince Staples, Four Tet, Empress Of, Blood Orange, and more, this playlist boasts some party-essential tracks for the perfect night, no matter what season it is.
We’ve been in the holiday spirit on and off all year, if you’re truly asking me. Every once in a while on a Friday, we have been known to break out into a rendition of a 98 Degrees Christmas song, or to envision the Hanson boys singing “Run Run Rudolph” directly at us. And this year, we wanted to acknowledge and highlight the alternatives to our “classic” options – and the real OG options by Sinatra and the like – so you have something a little bit different, but just as historically magical, to share with your holiday crowds and hordes of friends!
We will continue to update it as we see fit, so check back for more!
Have any holiday track suggestions for us? Share on social media with #imperfectfifth and we might just add your song selections to our soundtrack!
If you thought the first half of the month had insane amounts of fun new videos, then you’d be hard pressed to say any different of the second half of the month. So while everyone else is singing their praises to Green Day’s “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, we will be enjoying these new visuals from people who have captured the first hints of autumn for us sonically. Enjoy the following videos with us, featuring Cat Power, IAN SWEET, Holy Golden, Roosevelt, MUSE, We Like Jesus, and more!
