Murder by Death returned to Lawrence, KS, on March 7 for a show at historic Liberty Hall. The group is mid-way through their current tour celebrating 20 years as a band. The crowd was so happy to welcome them back to Lawrence. The night included a great moment when lead singer, Adam Turla, acknowledged their love and long history with the town, from playing house parties in the early 00’s, to Liberty hall on Saturday. The group was energetic and cohesive – you could tell they’ve been performing together for 20 years.

MUNA brought their
Saves The World tour to Mercy Lounge in Nashville on October 4th–just a month after their album of the same name was released. They opened the show with lead single “Number One Fan,” an anthem about coming to terms with being your own biggest fan. A MUNA show is a celebration of self-love, self-care, and self-preservation. In their words, saving yourself is the key to saving the world. They performed all but two songs on their new album, along with crowd favorites “I Know A Place” and “Loudspeaker” from their 2017 debut
About U, and in between songs, the crowd rarely stopped cheering long enough for the band to get a few words in–until bassist Naomi McPherson declared triumphantly, mid-show, that they are “the greatest band in the world.” I wholeheartedly agree.

On Tuesday, October 8th, The Bacon Brothers took the stage at The Folly in downtown Kansas City, MO to a well-mannered and vibrant audience. (Even the couple dressed like bacon added a certain je ne sais quoi. For those of you wondering, yes, this would be Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael, who have been making gorgeous Americana music since 1995. So, yes, your head has been under a rock and it’s time to jam out. These men have got some chops, and they’re wonderfully entertaining.
