With the smoothness of a Chromeo track, and a soulful vibe that likens the track to many of its influences, pop rock collectve Pet Envy‘s new track “Middleman” provides the upper hand in its genre, giving us all a new standard by which to judge our new fall releases. The Nashville-based band – comprised of Shelbi Albert, Jake Diggity, Matthew Singler, Jordan Klatt, and Emma Lambiase – brings a certain flare to the track that gives you permission to bob your head along, no matter the atmosphere you might encounter it in.
For example, now would be great.

Pushing through boundaries with his newest release this week is JAIME. The German born producer, sound designer and drummer wows with “Dreams,” a cleanly produced but seriously memorable piece of hip-hop meets future bass.
He has worked alongside MITTONE for this track, which will form part of his forthcoming album – something we are already looking forward to. “Dreams” is a jigsaw of raw rhythms, pitched down vocals and diverse instrumentation, coming together with a sense of both suspense and excitement. It’s a ground-breaking single, and one that will take JAIME to a new crowd of listeners.

There is something special out for release by BLVTH right now. With his influences ranging greatly from bass to hip-hop and everything in between, the mysterious producer has just delivered his eight-track EP blut. It’s an enticing listen for many reasons, but we love the way that BLVTH refuses to stay within the constraints of one or two genres.
Standouts on the EP have to come courtesy of “Pusher” (we particularly love the version featuring vocalist Soiceytrap), and “Disney,” which really hits hard with its moments of sharp contrast.

A common theme here is that a lot of the music that influences and inspires us is pretty weird and catchy. This taught us that its okay to do whatever we want and write however we feel. We’re lucky that it happens to be catchy enough to remember!
Play on shuffle or in order. This is just a quick handful of songs that were thrown together so we can hang out. Enjoy!
Stone Temple Pilots – Meatplow
This song has a certain grime and groove with such “sing-along-ability” that just hits the spot every time.
Musically wacky, yet unmistakably STP. Just one of those songs that says its okay to be weird.
Bush – Swallowed
Just a great song off of a great album. Steve Albini sort of took his “In Utero” Nirvana sounds and plugged Bush into them.
Say what you will about people stealing people’s sounds, but the fact is that this shit moved us as impressionable babies and just made us want to play harder and louder to get our lil’ feelings out.
Pearl Jam – Brain of J
We’re all pretty big Pearl Jam fans. I only chose this song because it was right in front of me and its not a go-to PJ song.
I could go on all day about what Ten and VS did to us when they came out, or how I sat about a foot away from the tv during that ridiculous MTV Unplugged performance…
Soundgarden – Burden In My Hand
Try not to sing along. They beat the system. They wrote some of the weirdest stuff, while being SO fun and easy to listen to.
We all really love this band and this is a good safe song choice everyone can dig. Miss you, Chris!
Meat Puppets – Backwater
This is such a Jeff song. I think we covered it once. If you’ve heard a handful of Sunshine Riot songs, It ain’t hard to hear
how we were influenced by these dudes.
Eels – Novocaine For The Soul
Just another weird 90’s jam that makes you go “Oh yeah! I remember this!” Our Jonny has a whispery voice like this sometimes, so I guess that’s a thing.
Aerosmith – Jaded
Hometown heroes I guess. Nobody in the band is a huge Aerosmith fan, but JESUS FUCK this might be the
catchiest song ever written and its always cool to stop and think about how they were once just some pals in a basement trying their best.
Nirvana – Serve The Servants
I don’t even know how to fully express how much this band and album means to us. This is that Albini sound I was
referring to earlier. Its just so damn important and I’m so glad we all love it so much. Thanks for everything, Nirvana.
Foo Fighters – Floaty
This is a very pretty one off of that first album that was actually only Dave Grohl. Another one that made me want to play
hard and with all the feeling. A lot of the stuff on this album is actually kind of a nightmare to play on any instrument, but it sounds so simple and catchy! Super inspirational.
The Replacements – Bastards Of Young
Metal dudes say Lemmy is God. Other, less tuff dudes say Paul Westerberg is God.
Another big influence on us. Replacements mastered that raw, borderline bad sound that just makes you feel.

San Jose-based indie pop/electronica singer/songwriter Anja Kotar has a new music video for her enticing single “Coltrane”, and we’re lucky enough to be hosting the exclusive premiere. Her soulful, robust vocals dance effortlessly across a soundscape you can’t help but move to when you hear it. Kotar displays her playful side while she sings into the mirror while applying makeup. She also splashes around in a tub, dances in sandals, and hangs out around her home, seen through rose-colored glasses.

Savi Minds – the brainchild of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Mikale D’Andrea – recently unleashed new single “Lazy” onto the public. Mellow and intricately layered, the track features D’Andrea’s light-as-a-feather vocals, providing a soundscape that eases your mind and blankets your senses. It truly puts you in the mindset that the name implies, and we’re all for it moving into the mellow autumn season.

Magic Bronson has always been a thorn in our side, though not for reasons you’d assume based on that comment. No, the Los Angeles-based alt-dance duo began to dazzle us at SXSW 2017, and we haven’t been able to knock a single song they’ve released since. Now, they’re coming at us with new track “Evil Plans”, putting us in the most mellow mood we have – perhaps – ever experienced, a direct contrast to the lyrics at hand. Explains the band: “Evil Plans’ is about feeling inadequate and bullied and trying to find some sort of escape.”

PNW-based CNJR (kon-jer) creates a soundscape like no other, drawing from multiple genres for a sound that is theatric, brooding, and alive in all of its synth-infused glory. An instrumental masterpiece, we find ourselves drawn in by the hip-hop aspects of the track, the bass coming through in spurts that make any listener want to move. Though the Hive Mind EP isn’t set to release until next month on Future Archive Recordings, we have the exclusive premiere of new track “Ansible” (and its two remixes) below. Philly-based post-punk-meets-indie/rock collective SOLD – comprised of Ted Quann, Jon Murphy, Scott Signorino, and Stefan Niemoczynski – recently released their track “Feels”, which builds up from a quiet, moderate-tempo song into a cacophony of sound, a soundscape filled with yelling and crashing, among other things. One of the 4 tracks featured on their EP Feels Unreal, “Feels” gives us an intense and fun glimpse into what’s to come.
