LA based Little Monarch captured attention and success with the release of their self-titled EP in 2016. There is no slowing down for the indie pop trio though. They recently flew into 2018 with a new video for the song “No Matter What”. The video starts with a group of friends traveling to the beach and hiking through the hills. It captures the essence of nature while encompassing the solidarity of friendship.
“For the video we simple wanted to capture the care free sun kissed feeling of the song,” say Little Monarch of the video.

Since the beginning of his career, Greek-born artist Leon of Athens has used his poetic lyricism to share a message through his music to people and fans across the globe. Most recently, Leon has released a brilliant new video for the title track off of his latest album, Xenos. Not only is this video a visual spectacle, but it is laced with dreamy scenes and raw emotion that match the emotion and intensity of the track. Wild, flashing lights are a key element in the production of the music video that match the beat and rhythm while fast, animal like men and women race towards something that seems to be unachievable. These elements, however, were not surprising to those who have seen and heard Leon in the past. In fact, riveting graphics and intensity are both signatures of this indie-pop artist that is taking the music community by storm.
Throughout his career on the stage, Leon of Athens has received praise from some of the greatest and most well-known names in the industry. Recently, the New York Times has named him an, “Immensely appealing Greek pop star.” Also, The Guardian also hailed him as a, “Brainy pop inspired by Bernardo Bertolucci, inflected with electronic, folk and other flavors.” Clearly, with such overwhelming support from international fans and critics, the future for Leon of Athens is secure and bright.

LA darling Presley Tennant has come into the year 2018 with such fire and promise that there is no telling what the limits are for her and her music. Since 2016, Tennant has performed all over the country in some of the most sought after venues such as VidCOn 2016 and the Kia Stage. Not only is she getting the face time that most budding artists seek, but she is also producing relevant and eye-catching content that is going viral. Most recently, Presley released a music video of one of her most well-known singles, “BFF,” which is a clever spin of text slang for, “best friend forever.” Not only does the tune and beat keep the attention of the listener, but the lyrics themselves are clever and catchy which renders her work memorable.
Adding to her success is her involvement with the WNBA. Earlier, Presley was selected as an ambassador for Young Women with the LA Sparks. During this time, she attended several events that promoted many things including growth and confidence among her peers. Not only is this artist taking the stage, but she is also taking the hearts of her fans as a strong and confident member of the community. It is clear that this artist is gaining momentum towards what could possibly turn into a wildly successful career.

After forming together at a high school party, alternative pop band The Unlikely Candidates went on to release three Eps and have since spent countless hours on the road in order to chase after a dream that started so many years ago. While on the road, they had several opportunities to work along-side some of the most well-known names and faces in the industry from Sublime With Rome to Fallout Boy.
Most recently, however, they have released a new lyric video for their single “Oh My Dear Lord,” and are featured on the Dirty Heads’ new song titled, “Celebrate,” which is currently in the Top 25 at Alternative Radio. Clearly, the five members of this band have been hard at work to get their name recognized in the general music community. Clearly, their hard work is paying off in their widespread popularity. This new release has over 17 million combined streams-a number that is sure to continue to climb in the future. One of the most recognizable attributes of this band’s music is their ability to add a certain “grit,” to their pop overtones which allows for a larger fan demographic.

Talented Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Doug DeLuca has been putting together a pretty stellar EP experience for us. But in the meantime, it looks like we’ve got the sticky sweet premiere for the “Gimme Love” music video to enjoy. What a perfect time to be sharing this one, as it matches the theme of Valentine’s Day so well. As the track sets seductive, soulful vibe for the most love-filled day of the year, the listener is entranced by the way DeLuca expresses his feelings so bluntly and in such a rose-colored light. “Enter Oblivion” is the latest video from the melodic death metal band
Darkest Hour. Singer John Henry directed the video that was shot in the Mojave Desert at a national natural landmark, Rainbow Basin. Known for being dry and desolate, the basin has awesome rock formations and fossil beds. The video shows the band playing and periodically shows a mysterious white cloaked man wondering around as if to be searching for something.
“Enter Oblivion” comes from the band’s 11th album, Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora, that was released in 2017 and was produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge). This D.C. based 5 piece has come a long way from where they started in 1995. Through multiple line up and record label changes Darkest Hour has really matured and while “Enter Oblivion” is not as heavy as what you’d expect it shows great diversity and still carries their melodic signature tone, double bass, and blast beats.
Over the past 20 years, Darkest Hour has risen up from the underground and just like Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, Darkest Hour has put their flag into the metal scene and marked their place as one of the driving forces behind what defines the true melodic brutality of metal.
Hitting the road Feb 16th Darkest Hour will be touring the east coast first and in April heading overseas with Cephalic Carnage. Ships Have Sailed is an alternative pop-rock duo hailing from Los Angeles. Today, they released a new single titled “Let’s Just Dance”. Ships Have Sailed also plans on working on more music as 2018, so this is their year for creativity, a fact we found out when we got a chance to speak with them briefly. So check out the new track below, and read on for a little Q&A fun!
After releasing your new single “Let’s Just Dance” what are your next plans music-wise?
2018 is going to be a year of creativity! We’ve spent the last couple years pretty much out on the road, and so this year we’re going to be writing a lot and working in the studio…while we don’t have specific plans on whether that will result in an EP, an Album or more Singles, we do know we’re ready to make some more music.
How has your music evolved since your first EP Someday?
Well I think everything is an evolution, that’s just how life, experiences and time work together, so definitely our music has seen evolution. I would say we’ve become more attuned to our sound and creativity, and definitely my production chops get better and better every year, so while ‘Someday’ is near and dear to my heart, I would say it’s a little rough around the edges…which is great – it gives it its own character, but these days I’m much better at accomplishing exactly what I want sound-wise. With that said, I don’t like to hold us back creatively, so definitely we’re excited to continue to evolve as we continue to create!
Your new single “Let’s Just Dance” digs a little deeper when it comes to exploring human emotions. What do you think causes people to act upon their emotions rather than instincts?
That’s an interesting question…honestly I don’t think emotions and instincts are entirely separate from each other…just kinda different flavors of the same inner mechanism. But as far as leaning towards emotions or instincts, I think emotions often take the reigns because you can actually feel them, whereas instincts can be a bit more subtle, so you really have to pay attention to them.
Why do you think often times as humans we want more than what we already have?
This is something I ponder almost constantly! The honest truth is that I couldn’t dream of knowing the answer to why, but I often wonder if it started out as kind of a survival mechanism back in the very early stages of humanity. Think about it…we were not the top of the food chain, we didn’t have fire, tools, art, language, and over the course of time we developed all of those things…why? I think the progression of civilization (both the good and bad aspects) and technology can stem back to this gut feeling of wanting something ‘better’ …call it motivation or curiosity…regardless of whether this is really how or why this feeling originated, it’s a pretty fascinating topic to think about!
What was the influence behind “Let’s Just Dance” and what inspired it?
Well the idea itself just popped into my head at 2am one night and wouldn’t leave me alone until I sketched it out…it was just the main part of the chorus that kept repeating itself and wouldn’t quit, so I sketched it out really quick so I could get some peace and went to bed. The next day, I listened back and thought it was really good…but I didn’t want it just to be a shallow vapid love song, so I thought I would tie in the “Let’s just dance all night” theme into this fascinating topic of always wanting more that you asked about in your previous question. Through several collaborations including with co-writer Robert Gillies, co-producer Wally Gagel and the extremely talented team (Talkboy TV) who helped create the music video, these themes really developed themselves thoroughly, and the music morphed from something that started out to be a very circular, repetitive idea, to something that goes to all sorts of different places, sometimes unexpectedly…it was really amazing to watch it all come together!
How is “Let’s Just Dance” different from previous songs that you have released?
So, every song is different, but specifically I wanted this one to maintain the indie pop vibe that we’ve become known for, but to add a little edginess and also a bit of a classic vibe as well. People have compared the production to Walk the Moon (who I love, so that’s a huge compliment) but if you listen, you’ll hear a lot of classic influences in there as well…they’re just nicely blended, so I feel like there’s a little more depth to this track than some of our other singles.
What message do you hope people get from “Let’s Just Dance”?
Live your life…be happy, don’t be afraid to stay up a little too late, or have that extra glass of wine. Laugh with the people you love and enjoy every moment…I feel like we’re all distracted by the past and the future, regrets and anxiety and we generally don’t spend enough time in the present. It’s definitely something I personally try to do a little better at each day, month, year…and so, yeah, I think that’s the message behind this one. We’re human, imperfect, and beautiful…we were made to enjoy life moment by moment.

Indie rock band Smoke Season recently released the official video for their new single “Wolves”. From the moment ‘play’ is pressed, the song displays a deep seductive beat. “Wolves” is a catchy song, especially when it gets to the chorus portion. The beat behind the song sounds like a heartbeat that increases speed when the song gets to a certain point in the chorus. The video is just as exciting as the track, and starts off with scenes of mountains and a rose that is prominent throughout. There is a somewhat vintage/grainy filter over the scenes which makes the work look stunning.
The music video for “Wolves” then moves to a city strip for a chorus that shows the lead female vocalist Gabrielle Wortman singing along to the chorus. The video mostly takes place out in the nature and looks like fun based off of the artists’ energy and the creativity that went into its production. With mesmerizing music videos like “Wolves”, Smoke Season will continue to have a successful career in music.
