Yellow seems to be a common theme in the world of London-based folk duo Ferris and Sylvester. Following their debut EP, The Yellow Line, Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester have released the single “Better in Yellow”, off their upcoming EP, Made in Streatham.
Filmed in 80’s-esque 4:3, the video for “Better in Yellow” is full of visually appealing shots with a sunshine yellow theme and old-timey TV feel. The simplicity of the visuals allows for a spotlight on the lyrics and instrumentation of the track. A tribute to standing out instead of letting one’s originality be sucked up by the humdrum of the world, “Better in Yellow” is sure to flood your day with hope and happiness. There’s something so heart-warming about watching someone get an egg cracked on their head, covered in yellow paint, and rained upon with potato chips.
With a unique sound combining folky tunes with hints of blues, and even a touch of trumpet, “Better in Yellow” is not to be missed. Ferris and Sylvester know how to not only work together on a musical level, but also in matters of aesthetic, and the “Better in Yellow” video is tribute to this.

Oh Geronimo just released “Mountains”, a new single from their upcoming album titled The Sled. From the moment the song begins, strings from the guitar begin to consume you. As the beat picks up, drums are added in and the sound of the lead vocalist’s voice takes over the track.
“Mountains” is a song about pursuing your dreams and what you are passionate about. The song shows that although everyone longs to be successful, you must climb over obstacles that may get in your way to achieve your dreams. The theme of “Mountains” is to never give up despite what may get in your way.
Along with the single, Modern Me also released the video for “Mountains”. It is not only colorful but also very vibrant. As the song plays in the background, lyrics from the song play across the screen while colorful video clips are being shown. Not only is the song awesome, but the video for the song is amazing too!
The Sled is scheduled to be released February 9th, 2018. Keep up with the band here.

Frida Sundemo, Swedish born rising pop star, has recently released a three track remix EP of her album Flashbacks & Futures as Flashbacks & Futures (Pure Version) EP, featuring acoustic versions of previously released songs, “Gold”, “We Are Dreamers”, and “Flashbacks & Flashbacks”. Each song features the clear vocals of Frida accompanied by subtle yet soaring instrumentation. These stripped versions, appropriately called “pure,” display Frida’s crisp vocals perfectly.
The floating melodies on “We Are Dreamers” will have you in a trance. “Gold” paints a musical landscape if a song ever did. It will leave you saying, just as the song does, “this is gold”. She has also released a 360 degree video of “Gold”, accompanied by a string quartet, Migdal Strings. If that sounds awesome, it’s because it is.
Prepare to be blown away, not only by the interactive experience, but also by Frida’s musical talent . The title song, “Flashbacks & Flashbacks”, a track teeming in nostalgia and bittersweet melodies, can nearly induce tears from the listener with its beautiful . The whole album sonically depicts feelings of nature, love, childhood, and other human experiences. Flashbacks & Futures (Pure Version) EP is purely perfect.

It may have been twelve years since the re-issue of 1997 album The Jaws of Life on vinyl, but Fine China – comprised of Rob Withem, Greg Markov, and Thom Walsh – is proving they’ve still got chops, as they are set to release a new album next month on Velvet Blue Music, 20 years after they released their first album for the same label. Their latest track – “Not Thrilled” – gives us a little taste of what’s to come.
Withem wrote the song in one sitting, with the intent to create a pure pop single for the album. Glittering synth frames the track, a vintage UK punk tinge to the vocals as the soundscape finds its listener skipping, dancing, and even wiggling around. The lyrics might not hit the same high notes as the instrumentals, as Withem admitted, “The lyrics reflect common themes of my life as a middle-aged man; joy, anxiety, remorse, and melancholy.” But it’s beautiful to hear him touch on a wide variety of things in a fun way that is wildly attractive to the eardrums.

New York band The Nectars released the video for their debut single for their upcoming debut album coming out this summer. The single, entitled “Heaven” is The Nectars’ debut. A song about getting rid of all of the negativity of your life, it encourages you to find power and strength within yourself.
The video, which was released January 12th, shows the rawness of the band and is not your typical music video. It is a live performance visual in a room, intimate and fun. The video being recorded like this is a good thing because it shows the band up close and personal. It gives the viewers an opportunity to connect with the music without having a flashy plot line distracting the viewer from what really matters: the music.
“Heaven” music video is shot with a yellow tint to it. The yellow tint is a good thing because it gets the viewer to feel the raw emotions of the video. Throughout the video, you can feel the band’s energy through the screen.
The Nectars are currently working on their debut album which will be released sometime this summer. Keep up with them here.

If you appreciate the sounds of The Beatles, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Rolling Stones, Lady Blue Beard is the newest band to add to your collection. Songwriter, singer, and guitarist Klaus Fischer immaculately creates a folk-soul sound with the band’s debut album titled Picture of an Elephant. He flawlessly combines speaking, mild scat singing, and whistling with modern rhythms to create a polyphonic pop sound that radiates vitality and raw musicality. The musicality of each instrumentalist is showcased in each song through guitar breaks and vocal riffs. Picture of an Elephant manifests a brilliantly cohesive sound with each song driving the next, sounding similar yet impeccably powerful on their own.
Lady Blue Beard excites listeners with the first track titled “Breaking Your Heart,” a catchy, high energy track that screams hit single. It has the perfect blend of memorable lyrics, melodious instrumentals, and foot-tapping beats guaranteed to subconsciously play in the heads of listeners for days. “Road to Heidenau,” the album’s fifth track, buries beautifully written lyrics among a vibrant melody featuring a loose, dance-worthy rhythm. “Nestling” is the epitome of cohesion, a song that begins with a lullabye-like energy and continues to grow throughout. A guitar break, scat singing, and the addition of the drums morph this song into an unexpected, energetic piece. The final seconds of the song illustrate the inner spirit of the band giving listeners a glimpse in the creative songwriting process; voices simply continue scatting on creating a fun and entertaining atmosphere.
The title song “Picture of an Elephant” features a euphonious guitar and vocal mix that is both unrefined yet soothing. The ambiance of street sounds, birds, and wind in the background adds a new layer of authenticity to the song. Soul is dripping from this simple, lyricless song that epitomizes the heart of Lady Blue Beard’s music at the core.
The final song, “Where the Blue Wind Grows,” supplies the album with a perfect resolution; taking qualities of each song to construct meticulous cohesion. It begins with delicate harmonies and somber lyrics yet picks up as drums and guitar carry the song in a new direction. The vocals follow suit with new intensity generating dynamic excitement. The final chords mimic the song’s opening as the ferocity slowly fades to a final few strums of guitar, magnificently bringing the song full circle
This album passionately embodies emotion and vitality through tranquil vocals and calming instrumentals while retaining an energy that leaves fans humming, scatting, and tapping along.
