parker’s “high” will leave you breathless

Parker’s new single is much deeper than the title suggests.  The track starts off slow and psychedelic, but that’s just the buildup for Parker’s breathy vocals.  Yes, the artist mentions talk of drinking and smoking, but she craves something deeper than that.  With lyrics like “…oh I’m getting tired, oh we’re getting tired,” and “searching for a different kind of high” suggests that tangible vices will no longer do for her.  Perhaps, Parker is seeking a spiritual  or personal high.  Either way, Parker’s yearning new single is definitely worth the listen.

Earlier this month, trance pop artist PARKER released hypnotizing new track “Doubles”. With vocals that are incredibly smooth – peppered with a particularly alluring raspiness – PARKER gives off a Lorde-like vibe while progressing through a particularly dark and vibe-inducing track. Lines like “nothing really scares me at all” and “if we’re happy for a second, that’s fine” really stick out, as PARKER seems to be willing to settle a bit to make something – or someone – happen.

On Friday, eclectic, electronic pop musician Parker – otherwise known as Jake Sgarlato – released his Spark EP. From the first notes of “Home” ft. Oh Boy, through the bass drops in recent single “Shy”, all the way through the last lines of final track “Afterglow” ft. Bianca, there is an energy to this EP that makes you want to dance, no matter the environment you’re currently in. Sincerely, as hard as the tracks hit at points, there’s a smoothness to the way they were produced that makes this a multi-faceted – and beautiful – musical endeavor.

Hard advice: Add any number of these five to your current party playlist.

Parker dropped his EP amidst a heavy tour schedule, and we can only imagine what the coming weeks have in store for him.
