Alt-pop rock artist Haas comes at us today with a visual to complement her beautiful debut single “Behind Those Eyes”. With a tearful intro, the video gives us a glimpse into the live performance tactics we will surely come to expect from Haas, as she introduces her act to the world. The song itself is catchy and incredibly fulfilling, and the listener can tell that a lot of emotion was used to create this masterful piece.

While half the country is being pummeled by snow, w’ve been searching far and wide for the best new tracks of February 2019. Most of this is because we were originally supposed to go on a weekend getaway to Seattle this past weekend, and since that was canceled (HELLO, SNOW!), we have had a little more time on our hands. Beginning with a little tongue in cheek dialogue, Anja Kotar‘s single “Kids” is infectious and honest, its accompanying music video no different. As the artist parades around in candy colored outfits, rocking each of them with a confidence that addresses the self love aspect of the track better than any other visual could. This is one of our new favs, and you’re going to want to check it out.

Megan Rooney and Jeffrey Albert project their emotionally vibrant lyricism into the ether with the latest single, “Waves”, from their musical project Spectator. As Albert implores the object of his affection to take him “on a ride on the other side of [their] mind,” you begin to realize how vastly similar significant others and relationships can be to waves in an ocean. At times, relaxing and glowing. At others, turbulent and exciting. Either way, we’re on board with the track and think you will be too!

Nashville-based rock collective Damsel and Distress has a flare for the dramatic, and is fronted by Alisha Lynn on powerful lead vocals. A true anthem for people who have been crushed by egos in relationships, their new track “Not Your Type” premieres today. The track is something you’ll want to belt out alone sometimes (a la Kelly Clarkson and Celine Dion, but not in the same style), most likely in the shower or while driving. It really provides the necessary edge we’ll be needing for our week.
Explains Alisha Lynn of the single:
There was a time—and there have been several times like it—where a guy was so very sure that I was going to come crawling after him just because of who he was. He had this mentality that every girl seemed to fall right into his hand if he wanted them and he figured that, surely, I would do the same. But oh, no. I don’t quite work that way. I wanted to write a song about how I wasn’t his type—the type to just follow him home or go along with his weird ego mind-game. When I brought the idea to the band, we wrote it as an anthemic and powerful “no.” So I guess now he’ll get the point.

Brooklyn-based “timid rock” trio Waterfall Strainer really defines that genre, their new single “Please Don’t Please Me” further representation of that truth. Even better news? We’ve got the exclusive premiere right here. With glittering reverb, the song has touches of 80s flare, slow and vulnerable. I can’t imagine not slow dancing to it somehow, and you might agree.

January 2019 has been an absolute gem of a month. We’ve had some insanely inspirational moments with new videos being released left and right, and have decided to share some of our absolute favs right here! Our soundtrack isn’t comprised of every video released this month, this collection just barely grazes the top of the pile. But we’re pretty jazzed about these ones, and wanted to provide a fun distraction from real life before February kicks in. If you’re looking for a topical track, Davis, California-based pop musician Lillian Frances has a new track titled “Super Bowl Party”, and it’s jam packed with relevant social commentary that should fuel your fire. If you’re into tongue in cheek humor and honesty – and especially if you’re sick of Tom Brady to some extent – then this song is right up your alley. Fair warning, though, there is some language. So perhaps check it out before you agree to play it at your party for the big game. (What? Sports ball?)

Portland-based groove folk project Lili St Anne – comprised of Elizabeth Fagan, Jason Miller, and Sam Arnold – has created a sound that is soulful, soothing, and intensely ethereal all at the same time. Throughout the duration of their track “Wolves”, we fall more and more in love with Fagan’s vocal range, as she tugs – no rips – at all of our emotions with her words. The video that accompanies the track mirrors its disposition, dark with hints of glitter that bring with them that wonderful voice.
