michael vickers, “dead and buried”

In the lead up to his new 4 track EP, Michael Vickers is releasing his new music slowly, tragically slowly, if you ask us. With new track “Dead and Buried,” there is an energy we haven’t felt in a few weeks, and the track leaves us wanting more. With Vickers’ accent-laced vocals, there isn’t a bit of this track that we can imagine anyone not loving. Fall into its quirky, beautiful soundscape below!

Have you been taking your time with the silence lately? Really analyzing every aspect of a sense? We suggest trying on all of this gorgeous, new music for size from this month of social distancing, perhaps in a way that allows you no distractions. (Amidst the bevy of new plants you’ve acquired during quarantine?) We have some stunners this month, and we’re not ashamed of the fact that we’ve gotten lost in this playlist all month.

Enjoy!

jessie hyde, “charity”

jessie hyde, “charity”

French songstress Jessie Hyde brings a certain sense of charm to her work. This rings true for her latest track “Charity,” a smooth as honey track, quirkily specific and wonderfully darling. Lyrics like “look at the sign on the wall / this ain’t a fuckin’ charity” make us laugh when we remember that she is just now dipping her toe into the music world. Her past life in tech and biochemistry definitely doesn’t feed her creative ability, so learning about such an incredible facet of her personality in addition to her sheer genius is pretty impressive.

We’re smitten with this track. Check it out below, and there’s a 77% chance you will be too!

Keep up with Jessie Hyde here.

ili, “breath”

ili, “breath”

We’ve been craving a pop gem to play on repeat during our weekends. Why? Because the weekends are feeling less like weekends… we need to reinstate the party mentality so that we can transition back into our post-apocalyptic every day eventually. (Very far down the road.)

While we wait ever-so-impatiently to change our landscape, we should dance it out to ili. Her new track “Breath” is an absolute banger, something we are definitely going to prep to dance to when the clubs open back up. But until then, we might just be bumping this while we dance in our rooms, craft in the dining room, or drink copious amounts of water to stay hydrated and sane!

Keep up with ili here.

merritt gibson, “breaking down”

merritt gibson, “breaking down”

If you’re looking for a song to absolutely lose your shit to, “Breaking Down” by Merritt Gibson is going to be the tearjerker of the week, if not the entire month. We’re hoping spring showers happen for us to be able to enjoy this one in its most raw form, but either way “Breaking Down” provides a soundscape to get lost inside.

Check it out below, and let us know what you think over on Facebook!

boyband, “realtree”

boyband, “realtree”

Grammy-nominated producer boyband releases newest single “realtree”. This track follows the previously released track “death note” featuring Billy Martin of Good Charlotte. Both of the new tracks are a part of his genre-bending catalog of music.

“realtree” captures that moment you realize someone’s true colors, accepting that, and finding yourself at a place where you need to remove them from your life. When talking about the track boyband says, “The verse is me attempting to move on in a more positive manner, having fun and flexing a bit rather than sulking over this girl.” boyband recognizes there are two sides to a breakup, moving on and hurting. With the lyric “all this realtree on can’t hide my feelings” is him saying that even when coping with the breakup he is still hurting from it.

boyband blurs the lines between genres, combining pumped-up beats with adrenaline-charged riffs and a precise ear, making him a sought out producer and a stand out artist.

Noted for his work on Grammy-nominated artist Lil Nas X 7’s track “Kick It” and his association with hot producers and other artists like Young Thug, boyband has established himself as an outstanding producer in Los Angeles.

I created my playlist to reflect the music that has influenced my music the most in the past and some tunes I’m currently really into. A lot of it might be obvious and even more not so obvious. Sometimes it’s simply the production style or thematic elements that wind up leeching into my own sound. I’ve been writing a lot during quarantine and these tunes are ones that are lifting me throughout. I’ve dug back into my love for early-mid 2000s French pop hard lately. That’s going to probably be pretty apparent upon my next release I’m already knee deep into. – Dane Forst

gillian, “high”

gillian, “high”

Boston-based pop artist GILLIAN has just put out her new single, “High”. The young songstress is only 15 years of age but is already proving her knack for chronicling life’s ups and downs and trials and tribulations with clarity, poetic eloquence, and a stirringly soulful voice. Whether it’s with a piano, guitar, or her haunting vocals, GILLIAN explores dissolving relationships, the horrors of addiction, and facing loneliness with unbridled emotion that belies her 15 years. “High” marks GILLIANS first release of 2020 with plenty in the books to follow, including a new EP release in the summer of 2020.

GILLIAN navigates tranquil piano with skill beyond her years on “High”, her mesmerizing voice serving as the ever-so-pleasant guiding light through a sparse backtrack. Delicate and carefully chosen pronunciation and vocal embellishments give her a unique flavor. She builds the song’s tension up to an arresting chorus with commanding percussion and soft backing vocals, showing up with a strong delivery that sets the hook apart from the calm verses.

“High” is available now wherever you like to stream and keep an eye out for more releases from GILLIAN in 2020.
