While half the country is being pummeled by snow, w’ve been searching far and wide for the best new tracks of February 2019. Most of this is because we were originally supposed to go on a weekend getaway to Seattle this past weekend, and since that was canceled (HELLO, SNOW!), we have had a little more time on our hands. I think this is a really good moment for women in music and overall entertainment right now. The climate is really conscious, women are speaking up and advocating for themselves through various forms of art and media. I am so inspired by all of the female pop recording artists right now. They’re all strong, socially aware and convey a similar message of women’s empowerment. They all support each other and I too feel the desire to support fellow female artists. I made this playlist to listen to when I want to feel inspired and a sense of community in the music business. All of these different artists show strength in their lyrics and vocal performances even if it’s through moments of vulnerability, enjoy.

It’s nice when you listen to a song it takes you back to a certain place and time. When I hear these songs I think I’ll always remember late nights when I would take time out to myself and try to clear my head. These songs always put my mind at ease because life can get kind of crazy, especially as an artist. Having those moments to just take a breathier brings me to a good space to where I can start writing music again.

Songs:
Janine- Hold Me
Jhene Aiko- Spotless Mind
Ella Mai- Don’t Want You
H.E.R.- Losing
Dvsn- Hallucinations
Sonder – Too Fast
Drake- Redemption
Jhene Aiko- Remember
Sabrina Claudio- Stand Still
H.E.R.- Focus
Sinead Harnett- If You Let Me

I am celebrating girl power with this playlist! These are women who have inspired me to write my music and live my life from a place of strength. The list spans from my vocal idol Linda Ronstadt to my girl crush Sia.
I believe music is one of the best ways we can connect as human beings and heal together throughout this crazy journey. Enjoy!

My influences throughout the years have been a huge part of who I am today. Madonna I feel the biggest connection because of her emotions when she sings and her daring nature! I have a bit of an alter ego as well. Sia has left a big impact on me as well. Her songs hit deep within lyrically and are full of so much power. I can only hope to move people the way she does me.  Others are Lana Del Rey, Christina Perri, and Lady Gaga. My moodiness in my songs often mirrors some of Lana’s. I love the storytelling nature of Christina, and Gaga is a powerful soul that I see moving through genres which I what I see myself doing. I feel I am a piece of all of them.

Keep up with Natasha Jane Julian here and at her website and keep your eyes peeled for her new album Happily Ever After.
