lowlight, “nights and weekends”

Ushering in their next release is the synth-pop quintet that has been coined as New Jersey’s “hardest working and most loyal outfits.” Since their debut, Lowlight has been working hard to create fresh, new music that will keep fans moving. Now, they are coming forward with another track from their forthcoming EP Born to Run entitled, “Nights and Weekends,” which, like the name implies, is an anthemic, emotive single that is sure to catch the attention of synth-pop fans throughout the world.  Scheduled to drop on March, 30, fans and band members alike are waiting with baited breath in anticipation of the new release. Despite all of this new material that they have been releasing, band members of Lowlight have also found the time to tour with The Pretenders throughout eastern states.

Within their new release, “Nights and Weekends,” this band takes the listener on a journey laced with killer beats and guitar solos that have a specific and unique sound that captures the attention of the listener. Lyrically, the lead vocalist encourages fans to live up the nights and weekends and live while the night is still young. It is an empowering, exciting track that is both lighthearted and inspirational. Radically different from the feel of their last release “Nights and Weekends” is upbeat and perfect for those seeking to get out and experience what the night life has to offer.

nightseason, “nothing calms my mind”

nightseason, “nothing calms my mind”

Moving into the spotlight is dynamic duo Nightseason who released their debut single, “Nothing Calms My Mind” last week via Noon Pacific. Their unique sound, however, is not the only thing that sets this group apart. Before releasing anything, Nightseason wrote their first EP by communicating through emails without ever even meeting each other in person. This, however, would not stop Patrick Zeinali and Jordan Caiola from collaborating together to form what has been marked as potentially one of the most successful singles in the world of rising new artists. Both of these band members were inspired by recent heartache that eventually led to the formation of Nightseason.

With the hopes of conveying a specific message that was full of both feeling and emotion and also dreaming of turning the world of rock on its head, Nightseason has worked tirelessly to produce, “Nothing Calms My Mind.” Looking ahead, fans can expect the debut of their 5-track EP later in in the year. Musically, this band features raw vocals from Caiola together with the production magic of Zeinali, there is nothing stopping this band from moving up in the world of music and accomplishing exactly what they set out to do originally.

arlo shows no signs of stopping with latest release “settle”

Ah, ARLO.  I recently wrote on him and I am excited to do so again.  Not only did the London-based newcomer sell out his headlining show at The Waiting Room, he also just released a new single “Settle.”  I’ve listened to ARLO before so I know that he has a beautiful voice, but “Settle,” really takes the cake.  Contrary to the title, “Settle” isn’t about settling for less at all. Packed with emotions ARLO asks the question we’ve all asked ourselves at one point “So why don’t you choose me?”  Even more painful on the track, “It’s obvious to me that I don’t mean much to you.”  No, the lyrics aren’t happy-go-lucky but the don’t have to be as ARLO’s emotion and soul on the track is what really makes this beautiful.

hare releases latest track “rolls along”

hare releases latest track “rolls along”

New York based pop-rock HARE recently released their latest track “Rolls Along.”  The track is sultry, deep, with powerful vocals.  “Rolls Along” is a conflicting plead, with something you want- but something you can’t quit.  “You think you’ve won, I’m staring at the ceiling thinking I’ve been done,” shouts HARE  as if this is a battle that simply cannot be won.  In reference to love, the chorus completes the track saying “Rolls along to somebody else.”  “Rolls Along,” is an angsty even realistic track about the continuum of love- whether it be with this person or that person, it simply put “rolls along.”

Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Parker Longbough is back at it again with a brand new LP, Left on Tri, out this April. Parker Longbough (irl Matthew Witthoeft) has just put out a second album, Bridges to Nowhere/Delirium in Lo fi last June, and is keeping the ball rolling with Left on Tri.

Bridges to Nowhere/Delirium in Lo fi followed after over a decade hiatus since his debut LP, Commander Comatose. Thankfully, Longbough is not making us wait another ten years for a new album; on the contrary, it was less than a year.

Off his new album is the single “Jack Ryan”, a moving track that weaves instruments with mellow vocals. It is a combination of indie rock and slight folk/country influences that combines masterfully, creating a pleasant soundscape.

Keep your eyes and ears open for Left on Tri, out April 20. In the meantime, give “Jack Ryan” a listen!

headwaves, “left right”

Seattle based dream-pop band Headwaves has just released their latest music video for their rising single “Left Right.” Lead singer Ryan Barber started this journey with a love of writing music that portrayed emotion and feeling. With effortless talent, Barber originally wrote folk songs, however, it soon became clear that folk music could not move an audience like he wanted. Over the span of two years and the addition of friend and musician Larson Haakenstad and producer Randall Dunn, Barber was finally able to create sound around his lyrics that had a deeply satisfying effect on his listeners. With the help of their producer, this dynamic duo feature fantastic synth rock rhythms with lush, dreamy “dance driven” beats.

The most recent music video for “Left Right,” highlights everything that listeners look for when they think of dream pop. The videography features hazy scenes and muted color schemes that seem to allow viewers the escape that they so desperately desire. Along with their creative use of color and screen writing, they were able to create an atmosphere with their music and movements that is enticing and completely envelops the listener. Now that they have several singles and the addition of this new music video, music listeners from around the country are starting to pay attention to this budding dream pop band from Seattle.
