René Methner has created a gem with latest German musical project Para Lia. Often supported by the vocals of Cindy Methner, his music takes on a throwback 80s vibe, if not only for the common use of synths and the tone of his voice. Today, we have the premiere of his new single “The Man Who Went Away”, and we’re already smothering our day in it.
The track itself is intriguing from the start, a pace and instrumentals that captivate you immediately and guide you through the theatric, robust vocals. Check it out for yourself below, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Para Lia’s forthcoming album.

Jon Kohan’s Granite to Glass is chamber ensemble is much different than others, emphasizing an indie-folk sound that is both vibrant and welcoming. He created an incredible soundscape for track “With Every Rainfall”, and the same can be said for its accompanying visual. While the song takes its time revealing its multiple layers, the video is a vivid masterpiece from the beginning, playing with color and contrast, emphasizing small moments in a relationship. A flurry of scenery changes remind us of our own memory banks. Explains Kohen:
This piece challenges time as an A to B progression, from birth and death, to love and loss. We as human beings experience time linearly. But if time is viewed from the perspective of the universe, life as we know it is one solid chunk of existence, nonlinear and unbroken, each of its moments existing forever.
Everything and everyone has been, is, and always will be. Those we loved who are gone from this world maintain a presence forever in time itself. The rainfall metaphor represents the possibility of time traveling from moment to moment. Hearing literal whispers of past conversations every time it rains.

Brooklyn-based quintet Kleptokrat – comprised of Alex Carter, Walker Esner, Graham Galatro, Danilo Randjic-Coleman, and Teagan Taylor – is ready to slow it down for us all, releasing their brand new anthem “The View at Bethlehem” today. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of the slow, intricately-layered soundscape, which utilizes the lyrics to encourage us all to “make it through.” The song plays a balance between the positive and negative, but with the aid of the magnetic vocals, we are drawn to believe in ourselves throughout the duration. And I don’t know about you, but I’d like a whole lot more of that in my life.

Los Angeles-based art pop duo KiSMiT have really taken things to a slow, playful, soulful place with new track “Look No Further”. Once again perfectly displaying Barnette’s vocal range and incredible emotional depth, “Look No Further” is truly everything we need to believe in love again.

No human escapes desire and its open endlessness. “Look No Further” is about trusting that there is an infinite well of love within one relationship. As we come to our 6 years of loving one another, the subtle has only become more sublime, the depths we’ve experienced together have been beyond what we could have imagined, like a fine wine only getting better with time.

Nashville-based rock collective Damsel and Distress has a flare for the dramatic, and is fronted by Alisha Lynn on powerful lead vocals. A true anthem for people who have been crushed by egos in relationships, their new track “Not Your Type” premieres today. The track is something you’ll want to belt out alone sometimes (a la Kelly Clarkson and Celine Dion, but not in the same style), most likely in the shower or while driving. It really provides the necessary edge we’ll be needing for our week.
Explains Alisha Lynn of the single:
There was a time—and there have been several times like it—where a guy was so very sure that I was going to come crawling after him just because of who he was. He had this mentality that every girl seemed to fall right into his hand if he wanted them and he figured that, surely, I would do the same. But oh, no. I don’t quite work that way. I wanted to write a song about how I wasn’t his type—the type to just follow him home or go along with his weird ego mind-game. When I brought the idea to the band, we wrote it as an anthemic and powerful “no.” So I guess now he’ll get the point.

Portland-based groove folk project Lili St Anne – comprised of Elizabeth Fagan, Jason Miller, and Sam Arnold – has created a sound that is soulful, soothing, and intensely ethereal all at the same time. Throughout the duration of their track “Wolves”, we fall more and more in love with Fagan’s vocal range, as she tugs – no rips – at all of our emotions with her words. The video that accompanies the track mirrors its disposition, dark with hints of glitter that bring with them that wonderful voice.

New Jersey-based pop/rock collective The Ones You Forgot – comprised of Jenna Bruno (Vocals), Matthew Thompson (Guitar), Ferdinand Benauro (Guitar), Justin Rodman (Drums), and Lance Nelson (Bass) – has a beautiful new video for their track “Luna”, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere. Against a simple backdrop, allow Bruno’s 90’s-inspired vocals (think Liz Phair) to to croon this acoustic love song to you, with smokey contrast and artful dance. In addition to the video premiere, the band was wonderful enough to provide some date night ideas. As we approach the month of love – and every day – with bigger hearts, let’s see if we can’t integrate a few of these ideas!
Jenna: I would love to go on a Zip line and ropes course date! Anything outdoors-y is fun (maybe not for a first date though). I’d also love to just get some dinner, see a movie and take a drive to the beach at night – a classic date!
Lance: My first idea for a fun date would be going out to some trails and hunting for geocaches together. Another idea would be ice skating and catching a hockey game!
Justin: My first ideal date idea is beer, hatchet throwing, philly cheese steaks, and insomnia cookie! A great combo. Another fun date would be going on a hike to a waterfall.
Ferd: My first ideal date idea is going record shopping and going to the arcade!
My second date idea would be going
to the beach, hiking and top golf (all in one day)!
Matt: A fun date idea for me would be going record store hunting.
I would also love to go to the arcade and have a nice dinner. I’m thinking Ferd and I should just date already.
