When Sasha Velour battled her way to the crown in RuPaul’s Drag Race, it was there the night Meric Long, the singer behind FAN decided to create his new single “Velour” because he was inspired by Sasha Velour’s artistry when he saw her lip sync performance.
Meric Long recreated Sasha Velour’s win through the song “Velour”, which showcases the energetic feeling of what he felt when he saw Velour win. The video shows a person watching the television through different things such as binoculars, sunglasses, blinds, and many more. The video is very creative and the colorful scenes that capture the true essence of the video.
The song is vibrant, loud, and very creative.

Maryland-based Gallant is back and better than ever with the release of new single, “Gentleman”, along with accompanying music video for the track. As evidenced when he was was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2016 Grammys, Gallant has what it takes to make it big as an R&B artist. A visually stunning video directed by Sasha Samsonova, “Gentleman” also showcases Gallant’s exceptional vocals. Slow motion, aqua lighting, and a shirtless Gallant makes for a minimalistic yet superb video. A seductive and irresistible song, Gallant brings listeners into the track with his falsetto and velvety vocals. The video seals the deal on this slinky track.
Since the release of his 2015 debut Ology, Gallant clearly has come into his own, and continues to impress listeners with his incredible talent, and we can’t wait to see what he puts out next.

The 19 year old artist Yellow Days is blowing up. Haslemere based Yellow Days was recently featured on Donald Glover’s trailer of “Atlanta” and just released the single “The Way Things Change.” The single is jazzy, sultry, and even throws in a bit of the organ for us.
I enjoy this track not only because it is inherently a good song, but it shows maturity for a young artist. For example, Yellow Days tackles lyrics like “My friends think my soul is dead, but I’m just trapped in my own head,” “I cry, you cry” and the impressive “You have to keep going, you have to keep going.” The lyrics are executed by Yellow Days smooth vocals. I am looking forward to what Yellow Days has in store for the future.

The pop-folk singer/songwriter Carla Stark just released her latest single “Once a Cheater”, which takes a sinister look at a lover who has been promiscuous. The song is addicting, charming, and will have you grinning from ear-to-ear. My favorite lines include “You were too old for me, and too good looking,” “You can cheat on me and you can cheat on others—but you’ll never cheat your death,” and “And you may think your skin is the best leather, but my knife go through flesh.” From those lines alone, you can see that Carla has a gift for writing cunning and quick lyrics. Not only is she a great songwriter, Carla’s syrupy sweet voice shines on “Once a Cheater.”

Seeking to expand her musical resume is Lyric Michelle who has just released her first single, “Free Thoughts, Freestyle” from her upcoming album that is scheduled to drop later this year on May, 18. Not only has her music been marked as exploding with flare and bursting with beats that will have toes tapping, but she has also been busy performing on some of the biggest stages that are meant to propel her music career into the future. Though she is young, this new release is not her debut, but just one more achievement in her career on the stage. Currently based in Los Angeles, Lyric Michelle has also been developing her acting skills by performing in the award winning pilot For Evan’s Sake.
Most recently, the Houston born budding artist performed at SXSW where she turned heads at the HipHopDX showcase. Also, within the next few months, she has plans to perform not only around her home city, but also on some major stages in her adopted city, Los Angeles. With more experience under her belt and a killer new album that is being released in the near future, it is clear that the name Lyric Michelle has carved out for herself is here to stay.

Brooklyn based Las Rosas just released their video for their single “Christa.” “Christa” opens to child-like imagery. It opens in a kids room, where they are lying on their bed wearing a “monster” suit (think “Where The Wild Things Are”). The video follows a pre-teen girl with short curly red hair who is keen to her vintage camera and has a smile for everyone she meets. The “monster” and “Christa” don’t cross paths until the end of the night when they end up in a club. One may argue that “Christa” displays no kids in this video. After all why would they be in a night club?
To me, “Christa” purposely cast kids for a specific purpose– to display the endless hope and search for young and middle age adults to find “innocent teenage love.” The garage band’s “Christa” is coming from their sophomore album Shadow By Your Side which will release on May 11th.

Clay Priskorn just release a video for his latest video “Orange Sky.” With a classic all-American feel, the video takes on a cross country road trip with two lovers. Shots of motel rooms, arcades, and cruising in a Rolls Royce, these two girls are hot and taking on the world with each other. Soon they have reached the “big city” as if this is their place to begin again. While the couple seems truly in love, it’s not all fun and games. The end of the video for “Orange Sky” leaves you with an unexpected and dark twist.
Decide for yourself whether or not “Orange Sky” is about two reckless lovers, or a tale of sabotage and revenge.

Back again after the successful release of their last single, Lume is back with the release of their second single, “Unending” from their next album Wrung Out. Not only is a perfect complement to their previous release, “Unending” is full of a new excitement, rhythm and beat that is a new angle fans have yet to see in their previous releases. Originally, when the band began their journey of writing and producing their new album, they were inspired by the weight that society tends to place on certain subjects. Highly affected by the death of three friends, taken too soon from this earth and who suffered from drug abuse and suicide, Lume was motivated to speak out and express these deep emotions with their music. Although the themes of their lyrics are of great societal concern, “Unending,” avoids being dismal and bleak. Instead, it takes the listener on a journey that is beautiful, but also leans far over the edge until you are forced to take a plunge into their crashing finale.
With two singles from their next album out on the market, band members of Lume are preparing for the release of their full length album that is scheduled to drop on April 20. Also, more exciting news from this budding band includes the announcement made recently of the their upcoming tour with REZN. With a new album scheduled for release and a tour just around the corner, Lume is finally getting the attention from the music community that they so crave and rightly deserve.

Moving into the limelight after releasing her debut album is 90’s inspired band Soccer Mommy with the newest music video for one of her most popular tracks, “Cool”. Opening with a scene set in the middle of what appears to be a high school soccer field, the music video immediately envelops and intrigues the watcher to continue watching. From the beginning, the bright, crisp colors juxtapose the relaxed vibe of the track. Not only does this highlight the song’s unique sound, but also creates a clever visual spectacle that definitely shows signs of 90’s influences. Not only do the colors enhance the viewing experience, but the animations, created by Art Baby Girl, are clever and perfectly match the atmosphere of the music.
Soccer Mommy definitely has a bright future within her own sphere of cool, collected artistry that she have built for herself. Although she has hit a home run since the release of the full-length album, she has continued to chase after what seemed like such an elusive dream. This same principle is manifest in the quality of her music video, which is absolutely stunning. With the fire burning bright, there is no question that there is solid potential moving forward for Soccer Mommy.
