Texas-based five-piece The Unlikely Candidates have just released their brand new music video for their single “Oh My Dear Lord”. The Unlikely Candidates – comprised of Kyle Morris’ vocals, Brent Carney on lead guitar with fellow guitarist Cole Male, Jared Hornbeek’s bass and Kevin Goddard on drums – are making waves as rockstars.The group says of the track: “Oh My Dear Lord thematically and sonically goes from sweeping wistful verses to explosive redemptive choruses. We wanted something that reflected that dramatically in a video. Water has that dynamic tension. It can be soft and ethereal or crushing and chaotic. This video capitalized off that contrast and made for a perfect pairing visually for ‘Oh My Dear Lord.”
Fans of Night Riots, Fall Out Boy, or Panic! At The Disco will likely enjoy this quintet’s work. The partially abstract video combines the classic performative cuts of a rock band with an indie edge and carefully crafted angles. The track, like all good rock songs, is one that gets you pumped and full of emotion. You’re going to want to watch the video for “Oh My Dear Lord” right away.

Portland-based Lisa/Liza is the indie psych-folk project of singer-songwriter and guitarist Liza Victoria, joined by Jonathan Downs and Devin Ivy. Having previously released several limited edition cassettes and CDs, as well as a debut 2016 LP Deserts of Youth, Lisa/Liza has now released a brand new EP in late February called Barn Coat.
The five-track EP highlights Lisa/Liza’s ability to capture deep emotion within ethereal, floating vocals and the carefully plucked acoustic guitar.
The track list for Barn Coat is:
- “Vanity Plate”: Liza starts off her EP with a gentle folk song, easing the listener into her style and soft, all-encompassing soundscape.
- “Encounters”: Next up on Barn Coat is a track that takes a more angsty spin on Liza’s sound, utilizing staccato and deeper guitar moments to carry the thematics of the song.
- “The Robins Song”: Capturing the throaty repetition of a bird’s call, Liza matches her guitar pace to the this idea. A track full of longing and wishes, “The Robins Song” is sure to capture your heart.
- “Windows Up”: If you’re needing a new song to roll your hand up and down out the window pretending you’re in a music video, look no further. With mellow guitar and emotional vocals, Liza makes the most of this track, highlighted with some unexpected twists.
- “BC”: Closing out Barn Coat is “BC”, a short (and by short we mean 1:36) track that carries the EP home and wraps it up nicely. Throughout this track, Liza utilizes her clear vocals to pair with her guitar in a combination that was just meant to be.

TIDES‘ latest release, “Don’t Let Me Down,” is making waves; a song that SoulBounce says “blurs the lines between pop, R&B, and electronic.” The uplifting melody and funky groove give this musical hybrid inspiring vibes.
TIDES is a musical duo made up of two friends, Innocent and Dan. The two have somehow mastered an old school R&B sound that still appeals to indie pop fans. With its bumping rhythm and melodic lyrics, the song is nostalgic yet hip.
Innocent describes “Don’t Let Me Down” as a song about addressing both his inner warrior and inner demon, a reminder to not let himself down. The duos debut EP, Crossroads, touches on themes ranging from love and fame and extends to more reflective matter like growth and coming of age.
The genre-bending duos latest single, “Don’t Let Me Down” is expected to take off and have massive reach to music lovers across the spectrum.

Los Angeles-based Michael Goldman continues to entertain with his solo project NONA. His new track “Girls” and its accompanying video are evidence of his talents as a solo musician. A creative video, “Girls” is full of drawings of a man and a woman. The video goes through a span of a relationship and what a relationship goes through. A powerful message behind it, the video shows the power that some partners in relationships have over their partner’s body. Raw emotions that couples often deal with in their relationships come to the forefront in this visual.
Although a illustrated video, it shows the pain partners cause on one another and how they are connected. “Girls” is a fantastic video from start to finish due to the illustrations and its realism.

Jane Church is a band hailing from Queens, New York. The band was formed in April 2017. The band produces music under a genre that they classify as “Beatlegum” and “Janitor Rock” music. The band is back to release their new single “Rocket to the Kremlin”.
“Rocket to the Kremlin” is a song about an American spy who is excited, confused and lonely about their new life. The purpose of the song is evident through its sound. The song’s tempo is a little disheveled, showing what the spy is feeling.
The song is creative, vibrant, and full of different emotions. After this release,Jane Church is clearly the band to be on the lookout for this year.

Stealing the stage with their newest self-titled album, Swoll is enticing the masses with their latest single “Shake”. The single is riddled with killer synth loops and hypnotizing harmonies that are sure to be featured in other tracks on this album as well. Not only will the full album have a universal message, but project star Matt Dowling also hopes that his music will be introspective and personal for all of his listeners.
This album was deeply rooted in Dowling’s need to express let go of what he called, “trauma.” In his own words, “That’s the beautiful thing about music and art: they provide a mechanism to release in a healthy and meaningful way, whether you’re the maker or the viewer/listener.” Stylistically, Dowling has been able to mesh together elements of several different genres in a new and memorable way unlike what we’ve seen from his other projects. Thorough careful songwriting, her is able to unite pop, electro, rock and other major genres with seamless effort.
Although Dowling has been on a roller coaster that has brought him success and hardship, Swoll is set up to succeed in a new and exciting way.

Bringing funk and innovative songwriting to the forefront of the music scene is Mosie’s Tangerine, which is sure to reign in the weekend vibes like nothing we’ve seen in recent history. This Boston based dynamic due has brought funk back with new and innovative twists that gives the genre a much needed face lift. With the addition of light synth melodies that blossom and bloom throughout the track and the delicate vocals that match the tone of their music perfectly, this group is sure to go far as they continue to create and produce music. Throughout their newest album, this group keeps it light and relaxing with their various instruments and techniques that are rarely married together.
Taking inspiration from the best of 80’s funk and old time crooner’s music, Adrian Brody and Jesse Levines has turned a throwback melody into something totally their own. Their debut album Tangerine tells the story of new-age romance and heartache that is shines a light of Jesse’s dreamy and often comical nature. Although it took some time and difficulties to find each other, the result is something that is out of this world. Mosie’s fresh new look and vocal versatility will being this duo to new heights as they continue to expand their every growing musical repertoire.

This is a playlist of what I think would be playing if you turned on pop radio back in the mid-late 60’s, as you’re sitting in Golden Gate Park smoking a doobie. Having not been alive at the time, I obviously can’t say, but it’s a bunch of rad tunes by some of my favorite artists from my favorite era in music as things were starting to get psychedelic.
