neon dreams, “turn back now”

neon dreams, “turn back now”

Halifax-based pop duo Neon Dreams truly creates music straight from your dreams. There is no exception with their latest single “Turn Back Now” and its accompanying music video, which premiered this week with Billboard. The song was inspired by Kadillac’s experience with the power of positive thinking, and the composition of the track would indicate it is meant to be a bit of an uplifting anthem. Definitely a summertime sounding piece, it gets us revved up for the new year.

Visually clean and fun, pops of color and set design integral in the video’s existence. Giving us a glimpse into the performance tactics of these two, we’re pretty thrilled to see more tour dates down the road!

january 2020 | simply the best

january 2020 | simply the best

Before I started to draft this post, I was wondering what lyric or phrase to associate with the title. For simply no reason, Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” popped into my head, and it just seemed to fit. (As I quote, “Simply Dusty… is there any other kind?” in my head. Those of you who get that quote, understand me.)

But 2020 is going to be the best. And if it hasn’t been yet, it’s just the start! So get amped with all of these incredible new music video releases, all in one place!

polly money, “roommate”

Enjoy UK-based Polly Money‘s sweet as honey vocals as you view visuals recorded on what looks to be my dad’s 50lb camcorder from the 90s. That, at least, is the vibe that has been captured in the new music video for “Roommate.” The song is dripping with young love, as sticky sweet as her voice, and we’re swept into the gorgeous chaos of romance.

Explains Polly Money:

This song is the undeniable need to spend all of your hours lost in the person you love. Their place or yours it doesn’t matter as long as you are waking up next to them. It’s the surprise late night turn ups, it’s the falling head over and it’s wanting to build a home together. This song is for the hopeless romantics.

Canadian-based alternative duo Rachel Bobbit and Justice Der may have released their new album When This Plane Goes Down at the end of October, but the talent keeps getting thrown at us, this time in the form of a music video for their track “Beneath Our Feet (Exit Music)”. Placed appropriately at the end of the 9-track stunner of an album, it maintains the largely playful energy of the album, moving at a clip that is both fun to dance to and easy to relax to. But that’s what their music is. With light as a feather and yet somehow still sultry vocals, there isn’t a track on this album that we don’t adore.

That, coupled with layers of bizarre and fun visuals on what seems to be a night out, and you’ve got a very gorgeous video to enjoy. Check it out below, and let us know what you think on our Facebook page!

draag, “ghost leak”

draag, “ghost leak”

This week, Draag released the new music video for their first single, ambient track “Ghost Leak”. The song itself, as explained by the band, is about “the feeling of being completely invisible and inconsequential.”  They take the meaning a step further with the video, keeping it as literal as possible.

Comprised of many still video clips of a single woman in different areas, amongst a variety of landscapes. Highway overpasses, in the middle of trees, in a souvenir shop, in front of a church. The list goes on and on. Each new shot is unexpected and beautiful, many establishing symmetry and the rule of thirds. And in each of them, the woman looks unseen.

Point taken.

Directed and shot by Adrian Acosta and Jessica Huang | Type by Angelo Rosales | Edited by Elijah R. (lunoluna) | Camera assist by Elijah R. (lunoluna)

The band has a February residency set up at The Echo, so check them out soon. Keep up with DRAAG here.
