Shot on the expansive and gorgeous Oregon coast and TIllamook State Forest – a beauty captured which the band is very proud of -, Rare Diagram brings us the exclusive premiere of the music video for their single “Keep Me”. The band is expertly comprised of Justin Chase (keys, vocals), Emma Browne (guitar, keys, vocals), Joseph Berman (guitar), Chris Marshall (bass), and Alex Radakovich (drums), and the song itself was written while Emma and Justin (who both make appearances in the video) were traveling in Argentina last year. Delivered mellifluously, “Keep Me” is a song about dealing with passivity in relationships and possesses a bittersweet feeling that only the Oregon coast could capture.
Director Hanna Hagen is the mastermind behind the video’s concept – which was inspired by the 70s vibe to the track itself – a movie-like quality to a tortured and beautiful plot line that could only be achieved by an array of vintage lenses and an incredible Director of Photography (Sean Conley). This video is also the perfect escape for those of us experiencing FOMO about not being able to go on luscious nature hikes in the dead of winter.
Let yourself get lost in this quirky, moving, and mesmerizing video.
Keep your eyes peeled for a record release in late summer 2018 via the band’s Facebook.

Denver-based rock band Vermillion Road – which started out when Will Robinson and Hunter Heurich took the stage at 14 and 16 and from there, they never looked back – gets a hit with their new single “Only One”. From the moment I plugged my headphones in and pressed “play”, the song started to consume me. The beat is very catchy and can get stuck in your head, which is an all-too-welcoming feeling.
In the song, the lead vocalist sings about waking up alone and not knowing what is going around him, a theme of being alone stringing the song along. True to the song’s title, there are lines about being the “only one”, allowing the listener to truly relate to the sentiment. Their impactful song lyrics make the listener feel like they are experiencing what the vocalist is going through.
With a hit like “Only One” Vermillion Road will be soon taking the world by storm. Their new EP is expected to be released sometime in 2018. Keep up with them here.

Oh Geronimo just released “Mountains”, a new single from their upcoming album titled The Sled. From the moment the song begins, strings from the guitar begin to consume you. As the beat picks up, drums are added in and the sound of the lead vocalist’s voice takes over the track.

The song shows that although everyone longs to be successful, you must climb over obstacles that may get in your way to achieve your dreams. The theme of “Mountains” is to never give up despite what may get in your way.
Along with the single, Modern Me also released the video for “Mountains”. It is not only colorful but also very vibrant. It may have been twelve years since the re-issue of 1997 album The Jaws of Life on vinyl, but Fine China – comprised of Rob Withem, Greg Markov, and Thom Walsh – is proving they’ve still got chops, as they are set to release a new album next month on Velvet Blue Music, 20 years after they released their first album for the same label. Their latest track – “Not Thrilled” – gives us a little taste of what’s to come.
Withem wrote the song in one sitting, with the intent to create a pure pop single for the album. Glittering synth frames the track, a vintage UK punk tinge to the vocals as the soundscape finds its listener skipping, dancing, and even wiggling around. The lyrics might not hit the same high notes as the instrumentals, as Withem admitted, “The lyrics reflect common themes of my life as a middle-aged man; joy, anxiety, remorse, and melancholy.” But it’s beautiful to hear him touch on a wide variety of things in a fun way that is wildly attractive to the eardrums.

New York band The Nectars released the video for their debut single for their upcoming debut album coming out this summer. The single, entitled “Heaven” is The Nectars’ debut. A song about getting rid of all of the negativity of your life, it encourages you to find power and strength within yourself.
The video, which was released January 12th, shows the rawness of the band and is not your typical music video. It is a live performance visual in a room, intimate and fun. The video being recorded like this is a good thing because it shows the band up close and personal. It gives the viewers an opportunity to connect with the music without having a flashy plot line distracting the viewer from what really matters: the music.
“Heaven” music video is shot with a yellow tint to it. The yellow tint is a good thing because it gets the viewer to feel the raw emotions of the video. Throughout the video, you can feel the band’s energy through the screen.
The Nectars are currently working on their debut album which will be released sometime this summer. Keep up with them here.

London-based singer-songwriter and producer James Bakian may be only fourteen, but he is full of motivation to forge his path in the world of music. Singing and songwriting from an early age, he first penned a song at age 6 and a few of his tracks have made it to the UK Songwriting Contest 2016/2017 semifinals. Now fourteen, James recently released an EP, Unstoppable, as well as several singles, including “Usual”, an R&B track.
You wouldn’t think you were listening to a fourteen-year-old, as James’ sound is somewhat a blend of Shawn Mendes and young Adam Levine. “Usual” is one of his most grown-up tracks and it’s hard to not vibe to. While a deviation from his usual beats, James handles an R&B song quite well. The fact that James is self-made shines on his tracks, especially “Usual”, singing, playing bass, keyboard, and producing the track himself. With an easy-going beat, meaningful lyrics, expressive vocals, you’ll likely have “Usual” playing on repeat.
He’s got an impressive track record and “next big thing” potential already; James Bakian is certainly one to watch.
Check out “Usual”, Unstoppable, and more by James Bakian, and keep up with him here.

If you’re looking to expand your musical horizons globally, set your sights to Sweden. Making waves across the Atlantic, Stockholm-based R&B singer Janice (Jah-NEES) is making herself known with her single, “Answer”, featured on her upcoming debut solo album, Fallin’ Up, set to release February 2nd, 2018. “Answer” is already gold, and looks to only grow more, especially as she is being introduced to the US and other countries .
Emotion-filled piano paired with Janice’s strong, soulful voice makes for a solid track, highlighted with some electronic beats and poignant lyrics. While at first listen it seems to be a love song, “Answer” is actually about feeling lost since the passing of her father: “It’s been four years, without you/Daddy can you cover my soul”. Anyone who has ever ached to hear the voice of a parent or loved one just one more time will connect strongly with this powerful single. Janice sings with the confidence of a veteran, and does her musical inspiration, the late Whitney Houston, justice.
Her latest video for “Queen” can also be found below. Let us know what you think in the comments!
