mykki blanco, “Lucky (Live in London)”

Queer rap extraordinaire Mykki Blanco‘s late December hit “Lucky” has paved the way for a gorgeous partnership between the storied artist and Dazed & Gucci. A new live-performance take on the track, it is full of warm colors, a feeling of community, and a glimpse into the talent that London holds, as that is where they filmed this version. This video is the first in a series that will be branded #GucciGig.

Directed by Diana Kunst and Mau Morgó, the video includes a 3 piece string section and choreography by Tom Heyes to complete its whimsical and fun atmosphere.

james bakian, not your “usual” 14 year old

London-based singer-songwriter and producer James Bakian may be only fourteen, but he is full of motivation to forge his path in the world of music. Singing and songwriting from an early age, he first penned a song at age 6 and a few of his tracks have made it to the UK Songwriting Contest 2016/2017 semifinals. Now fourteen, James recently released an EP, Unstoppable, as well as several singles, including “Usual”, an R&B track.

You wouldn’t think you were listening to a fourteen-year-old, as James’ sound is somewhat a blend of Shawn Mendes and young Adam Levine. “Usual” is one of his most grown-up tracks and it’s hard to not vibe to. While a deviation from his usual beats, James handles an R&B song quite well. The fact that James is self-made shines on his tracks, especially “Usual”, singing, playing bass, keyboard, and producing the track himself. With an easy-going beat, meaningful lyrics, expressive vocals, you’ll likely have “Usual” playing on repeat.

He’s got an impressive track record and “next big thing” potential already; James Bakian is certainly one to watch.

brunch, “swell”

brunch, “swell”

London based collective Brunch is at it again, having partnered with MadCap Industries to create and release the music video for their track “Swell”, which can be found on recent full-length release Useless. A mellow track, the video mirrors that thought as the guys chill, play music, and drink beer. It gives us a good glimpse into how Brunch runs a live appearance, and for that we are totally grateful since they tend to tour their home country a little more often than The States. But when the recreational ping pong table becomes a magic carpet and carries one of them around New York City, that’s when things get slightly interesting.

It also makes us wonder if it would be legal to drink and “steer” a magic flying anything, but who are we to judge?
