Anybody else ready to see an improvement in climate change law and the way we take advantage of our precious baby Earth? Alt-pop collective Little Dume has taken their environmentally conscious thoughts and placed them in their first 5 track EP, Waking Up. Theatrical and intense, the entirety of the release could be found in the soundtrack to a romance novel-turned modern major motion picture. Perhaps it’s their location in Malibu that brings the message of the environment to us disguised within sticky sweet pop sounds, either way we’re falling in love with their musicianship while “Waking Up” to the beauty to be lost.
A true love song, “As Always” showcases a raspier, slightly grittier soundscape. It utilizes the metaphor of natural disaster alongside descriptions of other gorgeous scenery to play with the meaning of love and the collective, it seems. Don’t be disappointed that Beyonce doesn’t make an appearance on “Halo”, the song itself is more Coldplay than anything else sonically (fight me). It’s gorgeous, and plays with the meaning of “bad” and “good”.
For some reason, we get quick flashbacks to music from The Cab with the opening of “That Could Be Me”, another clear love ballad that is hopeful and emotional, vocals that rip to your very core. “Kings and Saints” wraps up the EP smartly. It can be classified as a leisurely then powerful self-reflective and, once again, hopeful song, reminiscent of the energy of recent Top 40 releases. (Cough cough nudge nudge.)

We chose the title of this playlist in honor of the late Dolores O’Riordan who’s hit song we still sing almost daily. It’s so haunting. The other songs on the list are literally just our favorite songs out right now! Dermot Kennedy is an incredible breakthrough talent and so is lovelytheband. The rest are more well-known pop stars with countless hits, but these were the ones that stick out the most right now! For us, we are playing with pop star Anne-Marie December 17th at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale and just got booked for the Beatles on the Beach Festival in Delray next spring! We have 2 new songs coming out in the beginning of 2019 and are super excited. Our first single “Hard To Breathe” has gained significant traction on Spotify recently.
The creatively titled ‘EG’ playlist is a mix of some of my all-time favorites as well as artists and songs that were instrumental in shaping ‘Conversation’.
-Jim Ford, Bill Withers, Neil Young, Al Green
‘Still Bill’, ‘Harvest’, ‘Gets Next to You’ and ‘Harlan County’ were four records that I immersed myself in as I writing ‘Conversation’. I’d sit down with each, learn some of the music and write out all of the lyrics. My producer, Eddie Spear, introduced me to Jim Ford and now I’ll pay that knowledge drop forward.
-Jason Isbell, Bob Dylan
In my opinion, Dylan is the best songwriter of all time and Isbell is the best of my generation. These guys have set a high bar and I continually look to them as I work on my craft.
-‘Truly, Madly Deeply’, ‘No Hard Feelings’
I always love when an artist finds a way to make a cover song sound like their own. I’m a big Manchester Orchestra fan and I came to find Yoke Lore after ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’ popped up on a Spotify feed.
– Coldplay, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins
These are some of my favorite bands of all time and artists that helped shape me as a young musician. I put a few songs on here that I’ve had in heavy rotation recently.
– Natalie Royal, The Delta Saints, Brendan Benson, James Droll, Elise Davis
Nashville artists! I like to get out to shows when I’m in town and there is no shortage of talent in Music City. Here’s a handful of artists that I’d encourage anyone to acclimate themselves with if they don’t know them already.
Serving up vibes that capture the more ominous side of being an artist. Consumed by intense highs and lows. Love, lust, money, drugs, business politics, and a consciousness of freedom. The track list opens with a love driven hip hop ballad. Personally, I chase an overwhelming feeling of love / lust for writing inspiration. Tracks 2 – 5 focus more on the grind, the consuming work environment that is the music industry. This sort of career is life changing. It’s hard to describe, but sounds do it justice. Tracks 6 – 8 are more so about freeing conscious from the darker side of the music industry and intoxicating loves ; breaking free ; living a fluid life while maintaining balance. Through all the highs & lows of life, DON’T STOP.
Mac Miller ft. Kendrick Lamar – God is Fair, Sexy, Nasty
G Eazy – Summer in December
Post Malone – Paranoid
Drake – 30 for 30
Two Door Cinema Club – Do You Want It All
XXXTentacion & Joey Badass – 888
ZHU – My Life
Coldplay – A Head Full of Dreams
Though Mr. Hudson’s “Coldplay” premiered back in December, he’s back again with the premiere of the video featuring Vic Mensa. “Coldplay” is a song about the moment you are going to give up on someone but you change your mind and you don’t.The purpose of the song is to keep working with the person even though walking away is simple.
The video depicts Mr. Hudson at a bar serving up drinks to Vic Mensa who is drinking to numb the pain of whether he wants to walk away or not.The video displays the emotions from the song perfectly. Based off of the way Mr. Hudson and Vic Mensa move, you can really capture what the song is suppose to be about.
The video is a true display of what “Coldplay” is really about. Mr. Hudson sets the bar with video for “Coldplay”, making the listener eager for what he has in store next.
