sazzie, “do you work out?”ft. mix master

Inspired by the sexy, flirty scene that prevails in the night clubs that dot the globe, Sazzie‘s newest single, “Do You Work Out?” is about getting out there and just having a good time. The lyrics to this single were written in Stockholm, Sweden with Kristofer Ostergren from Melody Club. Mocking the overused one liners that so many of us have heard or used, this song came into existence with the intent to get people moving out on the dance floor. This feat is accomplished through not only clever lyricism, but also through intricately laid synth loops that drive the song forward and inspire everyone listening to dance.

“Do You Work Out?” is a very modern single with components that mimic and echo the sound and style of vintage electronic dance music. While the intense beat gets people moving the straight forward vocals are simple to catch on to and has people throughout the world chanting over and over again the key question, “do you work out?” With the addition of the vintage hip-hop spin offs that were added by none other than Mix Master Mike, this new single has the potential to rapidly rise to the top of the billboards. It is as new and innovative as it is vintage and classic, a perfect blend of old and new.

jøur, “american nightmare”

Taking the stage by storm with her latest dreamy alt-pop single, “American Nightmare” is up and coming, Minneapolis based artist, JØUR. Not only does this new track show off her amazing ability to dance on the top of wonderfully choreographed notes, but it is a perfect display of how her lyrical genius can speak to even those who associate with other genres of music. Throughout the track listeners can enjoyJØUR’s minimalistic style that perfectly show cases her natural talent as an artist. With an overall solid vocal performance and a universal message, it would not be surprising to learn that this artist goes the distance in her musical career.

While speaking of this new release she stated, “I originally wrote this song several years ago about blindly following the ‘American Dream’ of getting a job, moving to the suburbs, getting married, having kids, etc.,” explains JØUR. “I felt at the time that my life was flying in the face of conventionality when I quit my 9-5 finance job to pursue art and music and everyone was cautioning me about taking such a huge risk, when for me the biggest nightmare and risk would be to have that version of the American Dream.”

Of course, in the economic times that we are currently facing, fear of rejection and failure are often hidden occupants of our minds, however, this amazing track encourages all to break through the traditional mold that folds under the pressure of fear and pursue a life of a better.  With the skill of an artist far beyond her years and the emotional stability to continue producing music equally moving and impactful, JØUR is sure to quickly rise to meet her greatest potential.

a festival, a parade, “cold shower”

a festival, a parade, “cold shower”

“Elegant gloominess to hyperactive, twitching math rock” are exactly the words used by DIY to describe the new single, “Cold Shower” released by A Festival, A Parade on April, 24 of this year. Not only do these alt-rockers from Newcastle have have what it takes to elevate the sound of classic rock to a whole new level, but the release of their single and the forthcoming release of their EP, Sway Away From Me has the potential to get their name out of the recording studio and into the spotlight.

Talking about this new release, band frontman Joe Allen states, “‘Cold Shower’ is a song which takes a twisted look at endurance, empathy, and the chaos that could ensue when any even-tempered individual is pushed to their boiling point.” Not only is this message conveyed in the driving beats that occupy every second of this single, but it also found in the intense lyrical aspect of their release. Following the success of their first few releases as a fully formed alt-rock outfit, this single has become one of the highlights on play lists throughout the country and has fans sitting on the edge of their seats in anticipation for the EP that is scheduled to drop this fall. With some talented producers and musicians in their corner, A Festival, A Parade is a band to watch in the coming months as they continue to release meaningful, intricate tracks.

jordan lomeli, “no wrong”

jordan lomeli, “no wrong”

Rising out of the difficult situation presented to her during her young home life and into a beautifully rewarding career in her true passion is R&B/Soul singer/songwriter Jordan Lomeli and yet another beautiful single, “No Wrong.” Although over time, she has blossomed into an artist, Lomeli’s start was not a smooth one. Since the death of her father at age 10, music became the vice that would fill the cracks in her heart–making this wonderful medium an inseparable part of her life. After running away three times by the time she graduated, she soon discovered that in separating herself from the broken aspects of her life allowed her to face the demons that had been haunting her. The result is the incredibly developed sound of her music that flows and ebbs with with the lush, rich resonance of her timbre.

“No Wrong,” is a perfect showcase of everything that makes Lomeli unique. Since she lives outside of one particular genre, this soulful musician is able to mix and combine any genre that she sees fit to truly express the emotion behind her emotional lyrical lexicon. This latest single expresses the difference between love and infatuation. In her own words Lomeli stated,

“ Being in love and being infatuated are two different things. I really thought for a long time i was in love with this person, but it was really lust and infatuation. I knew it was infatuation because even in the moments when he truly was wrong, he was constantly excused, because I had an overly glorified image of him. Nevertheless, I was enthralled by him that I perceived my compromises as genuine happiness”.

In the end, her talent to combine meaningful lyrics to beautiful soundscapes has allowed her to move on from a difficult past and look towards a bright future.

black moth super rainbow, “bottomless face”

black moth super rainbow, “bottomless face”

In order to speak about issues that are constantly being thrown in the faces of teens and adults throughout the world, rising indie band Black Moth Super Rainbow has created a new track that is truly a wakeup call to all those who seem to me in “ignorant bliss.” As with many of their other songs, this recent release is incredibly organic in a way that makes listeners stop and listen to what is being said as well as come to understand the economical and moral crisis that we find ourselves in today.

One aspect of this track stands out among all of the rest, however, and that would the their incredible skill in turning such a universal idea and represent it musically. Throughout the entire song, listeners and fans are able to enjoy the juxtaposition that inevitably happens when you take such a lovely thing and pair it with something incredibly lack luster. In their own words:

Here we are in 2018, inhabiting a tumorous wasteland with singed nerves and synapses fried from scrolling for far too long. This is what the fear sounds like in its most pristine form. The floral bloom and the toxic wilt, the sound of dreams and nightmares reaching détente, a ride through the void, where the fumes offer all the anesthetic you need.

the holy knives, ritual bloom

the holy knives, ritual bloom

From the very depth of New Orleans based brother band Holy Knives comes their debut EP, Ritual Bloom. Over the past few months, fans and followers have gotten to know Kyle & Kody Valentine through their successful singles, “To Be Mine,” and “Every Day” – both of which have been released in recent months. Both of these releases have revealed a little bit more of what we can come to expect from such a young band. Creative and passionate are just two words that can be used to describe this dynamic duo. Their creative streak runs deep–right down to their name which was a clever combination of two of their favorite works of art, the film “The Holy Mountain” by Alejandro Jodorowsky and the poetry book The Singing Knives by Frank Stanford. Despite the fact that both of these artistic works are found in two separate mediums, their message of surviving a daunting quest through unpredictable circumstances to find solace in the beauty of knowledge.

Musically, these brothers have found their niche in a world that contains all of the rich overtones of classic rock and roll that is highlighted by a psychedelically, unique flare. Unlike most artists, the Valentine brothers have found a way to mix together two diverse worlds in the music universe to create something beautiful; just like the name chosen for their group. As the music and the plot therein thickens, listeners are totally and completely captured by the creative and intricate instrumental rhythms. All of the music produced by Holy Knives is intended to be intuitive and plain to all who stumble upon their work, much like a well written story. Without a doubt, this new release will aid them in their goal of becoming the best musicians they can be.

kuwaisiana, “murra”

kuwaisiana, “murra”

Indie rock collective Kuwaisiana‘s new single, “Murra” breaks the boundaries on what we would normally consider a hit track as Kuwaiti-born artist +Aziz sings not only in Arabic, but in English as well. From the beginning of this track until the end, there is a sense of excitement and joy as this klezmer/indie band does what they do best. Although this single is performed in Arabic, one does not have to understand the words to comprehend the emotion that is so evidently packed into each rhythm and beat. Despite the several abnormalities, there is is so much talent behind each of +AZIZ’s tracks and, “Murra,” is no different.

Though Kuwaisiana is currently based in New Orleans, +Aziz came to the United States almost three years ago to establish himself as a viable musician across the world. At the beginning, there were difficulties adapting to the American style of music, however, instead of completely relinquishing his heritage, +Aziz was able to find a cohesive blend of the two here now, he is able to please both nationalities. Despite their small start in a new country, their music is taking off in their adopted home of New Orleans as fans come from all over the city to see Kuwaisiana perform.

kate faust, “trouble”

kate faust, “trouble”

Stunning. Beautiful. Haunting. Very few words perfectly describe the new video released for Kate Faust’s stunning new single, “Trouble.” As the scene opens, Faust is buried in a cape of darkness that intensifies the mood so wonderfully outlined by the drawn out instrumental loops. Vocally speaking, even the bone chilling beauty of Faust’s tone and timbre instantly creates an edgy atmosphere this is pure perfection. Choreographed down to the last second, every frame is infused with muted colors that are placed in stunning contrast with a sudden streak of yellow lights that morph and shift over the face of this incredible new artist. One of the greatest aspects of this debut is the organic beauty that is completely exposed and is not overwhelmed by complicated or loud instrumental loops.

Like slowly drifting deeper and deeper into a dark pool, listeners will find themselevs drifting into a stupor as their focus turns completely to the musical genius of, “Trouble.” Throughout the video, fans will come to learn that beauty can be found in darkness as Fausts incredible features are masked by the opaque fog and looming shadows. Without a doubt, Faust has proven once again that she has the vocal power and artistic ability to continue to grow and create music that has longterm staying power among her fans.
