pyra, “regret me”

pyra, “regret me”

After being crowned by Apple Music as their Best New Artist in 2016, with a million-plus plays of her music, Pyra has gone from strength to strength. For her latest outing the self confessed ‘solar soul’ has teamed up with indie label Absent Mind. Together they bring you the single “Regret Me.”

A soulful, stripped back cut – which was not only written but produced by the lady herself – it’s a downtempo mix of R&B vocals and crisp electronic production. The single showcases Pyra’s ability to deliver a soothing, dream-like vocal tone set to pitch perfect production: strings, synths and suitable percussion set the mood.

tofû x chloe, “wayward”

tofû x chloe, “wayward”

We are quickly becoming fans of the label Absent Mind. They are onto their third release since they launched earlier this year, and their latest record has been produced by tofû. Vocalist Chloe Farrell has collaborated with him for “Wayward,” a really breathtaking listen with effortless style.

Her drifting yet somehow gritty tones are the perfect match for tofû’s understated production. Muted chimes and lightly bubbling electronica are the backdrop for its soul-searching melody, and we love the way he uses pauses to carve out suspense and atmosphere.

If the stats behind Nick Talos and his music are correct, the Berlin based musician, producer and remixer has gotten himself some serious credentials over the last couple of years. Remixing huge major label acts and breaking all sorts of personal records with his streaming numbers on his own tracks, Talos returns to the limelight once again with his brand-new single offering “Straight To The Heart.”

Showcasing all the musical elements that helped propel his previous guitar-led tune “Hey Gorgeous” to such prestigious streaming heights on Spotify, it also has the wonderful vocals of David Spekter. He helps to give “Straight To The Heart” an unbridled vocal hug and a sprinkling of soul.

brooke williams, “nightmare”

brooke williams, “nightmare”

With a sassy but stunning sound, Brooke Williams is making her mark as a singer and songwriter right now. Based in North Hollywood, she has appeared on tracks from the likes of Neo Noir, and is now pushing her own original material. It’s hard not to love the guitar-driven pop stylings of “Nightmare” with its infectious rolling drums and Williams’ very own distinctive vocal hooks. It helps that she brings a tangible level of personality to the table too – this single was written about a situation she found herself in. She says:

I used to hang out with this guy who always described himself as a ‘nightmare.’  Every time I hung out with him, we’d have the craziest, most unexpected adventures. He was the kind of person who pushed your comfort zone and you’d become addicted to the fun and thrill of it. He was spontaneous and could never make his mind up about a girl, let alone anything else. Over time I realized these were all the reasons he called himself a nightmare. I thought it was an interesting word to describe yourself and it stuck with me, which is what inspired this song. I kept thinking to myself “Damn he really IS a nightmare, but it’s one I want to be in.

The Minnesota hailing artist Anna Mae has just released her new pop delight “Single-Minded” via Snafu Records. Having already gained quite the following, the rising artist has produced the perfect instantly infectious single to take her one step further.

This bouncy summer song finds Anna Mae sharing her thoughts on living the perfect single life, singing “I’m only thinking about me when I shop, party for one is the way that I like and I can’t stop’.

She says of its theme: Being single is often underrated so I wanted to write a song from my viewpoint about why it can be so amazing. Sometimes the best memories in life are nights spent going out with your friends or just hanging at home alone in your underwear, so why not enjoy them?!”
